aljen
I have a problem with my sat dish. i have power at the 12v switch to power up the motor but nothing shows up on the unit and nothing works on 240v either. i had problems on the charging of the leisure batteries and as i had just had the habitation done i had mentioned to them that they had not checked the 12v electrics as they would have found that the charger unit was not working at all on hookup. I took the van back to them to have a look and they confirmed that the charger unit was not working. i also asked about the sat not locking onto a signal and they powered it up to try as they normally have a good signal where they are based, but no luck there either. As i was more concerned about getting the charging side sorted out i told them not to bother too much about that at the time. It was decided to fit another charging unit alongside to at least get me mobile and usable and all worked well. Before i left they then tried the sat dish but this time it just would not power up, but tried a meter at the switch and this showed 12v was there. but the unit would not power up even on 240v. Any ideas as to where to start with this problem. the dealer is not interested anymore as they dont have the experience with this and could not help further.any help will be grateful Alan
whisturx
Alan I have an Oyster system on my van. Firstly the system is powered only on 12 volt as you would not be able to use it without being on a hookup. Mine is permanently wired into the vans 12 volt system so the Oyster control box lights up on pressing on and tells you "searching" etc Seems as though you have a break between your switch and the Oyster control box ? Mine was installed by Robert Jackson on my drive. Thoroughly recommend him. Sorted me out over the phone in France on a Sunday afternoon !! He may help although having not installed yours ? aljen
Hi Ian Thanks for your message. mine is also wired directly to the leisure batteries with the switch located next to the control box. the unit was held on with velcro and i found it hanging off the wall so it may have stretched a wire within the unit, something else for me to check out. As i live in north scotland it is pretty remote to find the suitably qualified workshops round this neck of the woods. I will have a look at the wiring into the control unit and see if anything is amiss, hopefully i can get into these boxes without too much trouble, if not i might send the unit to the guy you mention. Thanks Alan

Rapido-lass
We also have an Oyster satallite system - fitted by Robert Jackson (infact he has moved it from one van to the next for us) he is very helpful and very knowledgable. We have had many years with no problems and then one day it wouldn't lock on, Robert tracked it down to a lead that had broken down causing the problem - he sorted it out with no additional charge. In this day, I would call that exceptional service! I would suggest giving him a call - 01924848566 mobile 07801843332, Good luck

aljen
i cannot get any lights to come on at all. Can any sattelite reciever do? the unit i have i bought in maplins and it would power up but not lock on to the sat successfully, always a weak signal despite being in open ground and facing south east. i live in inverness so may be just a tad north for astra
whisturx
Alan I am slightly confused as to your problem. I assume you have an automatic seeking Oyster dish which automatically locks on to Astra 2,subject to trees etc. ? Your digi box is from Maplins ? So is it your dish that has no power to it or your Maplins Digi Box ? Or no power to either ? I have never had a problem with the self seeking dish except for trees breaking the line of site. I have had "no satellite signal is being received" appear on my Sky screen which is usually sorted by switching the digi box off for a while and turning on again. aljen
Hi Ian I have power to the digi receiver only. i have 12v at the switch that powers the sat dish but nothing is showing on the sat control box. i am checking the cable connections just in case a wire has broken going into the control box. i am going to try connecting everything up today to see if or where i do have power going to, but as i am a complete novice in electrical matters i may be some time and no further forward.
