tonyishuk
I looked at web sites but none seem to have packing weights. for a Fiat Ducato 2003. Rgds
colin
Adria quote from 37 to 45kg for towbar+electrics on coachbuilt, seems a lot.
highwayman1
Hi, It'll depend on how far it has to reach to fit to the chassis. Some have to go a fair way under, while others don't. Our chassis goes right to the back of the van and our tow-bar weighs about 20-25kgs, it's made by PWS of Poole. regards...nige
Ranger
Hi tonyishuk, Don't forget to add the nose weight of your trailer when calculating your pay load. Just a passing thought to ponder on.........
Derek Uzzell
Tonyishuk, For a similar chassis to that used on your Rapido, the 2003 Hymer and Eura Mobil brochures quote the 'add-on' weight for a factory-fitted tow-bar as 26kg and 25kg respectively. bob b
On the matter of a towbar for the Rapido 709F Tony, I had to have a 'one off' design by Watling Engineers Ltd. I couldn't get one off the shelf.I don't know what the weight is....I didn't give it a thought at the time. The cost was £528.75 fitted in Aug 2005. That made me cough so it did ! starvin marvin
I've got one on mine and I keep threatening to take it off and get rid. This usually occurs to me as we're loading up to take off somewhere. I'd rather have another bit of kit that is of more use, to me anyway.

I was recommended Guildford Towing as people who are willing to take a look and try fitting / altering a standard towbar. Thanks to those members that quoted me weights. Lose 100Kg payload and gain 650 KG towing ( + tolls and aggrivation) Sommat' to think about.Rgds
Guest peter
You must have loads of Payload in a 709, as the are tiny compared to most M/H's on the Ducato chassis.
tonyishuk
Yep I have more than enough payload (Can there be such a thing ?) but not the volume to carry it in ! I am pleased to say that it is a case where the older models have much more payload than the new similar models on the newer chassis (chassies ? Chassi ?). The new model is lighter road weight and from memory gives away about 100kg (3400kg old model to 3300 kg on the new model total loading.) 100kg is a good load of wine, cheese and other goodies. A slight sideways thought is to tow a caravan. The cost of a van is less than buying a another 6 foot of mhome and splits / combines ones options. Its all pipe dreams (lol) Rgds
