swifty
Hello Everybody I see there is already a thread on payloads but can anyone explain why the max permissable axle weights on my Ace Firenze add up to more than the gross vehicle weight. I was recently on a weighbridge which weighed each axle and then gave a gross weight which was the two added together but when I checked the plate it showed, Front 1850, Back 2120 which I make 3970 and the van is plated at 3850. I was returning from a rally fully loaded and was still well inside the weights so I was well pleased :-S
ryedaleman
The axle weights limits usually add up to more than the total max gross weight to give you a tolerance on each axle. Otherwise if say your max gross was 3000kgs and each axle was rated at 1500kgs then it would be almost impossible to achieve the max 3000kgs without overloading one of the axles.
