Along the original 101 coast road between Los Angelese and Sanfrancisco the official campsite was quiet and peaceful.

Its now the Pacific Highway, 4 lanes of busy traffic, the railway line has now gone and its not so quiet but still interesting.

We were heading north to the Yosemite Valley and the Sequoia trees of 300ft, one where someone decided to make a roadway through it, and where the seeds have to be fired to germinate.

Hense the signs that read DO NOT report forest fires!

I and two mates did that PCH run too, on motorbikes about 9 years ago.

San Fransisco all the way down to Los Angeles and a little further on South, and then inland through the Mojave desert to Las Vegas.

Absolutely fantastic!!

Your photo brings back great memories.

Enjoy the trip.

That railway line at back reminded me of Porteau Cove B.C., can't find our photo's but heres one from google earth. We crossed railtrack to get to campsite which was all little pitches widely spaced in some trees on waters edge. An idillic quite site, BUT, in middle of night a large frieght train came trundling past, that was a shock
