libby Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Along the original 101 coast road between Los Angelese and Sanfrancisco the official campsite was quiet and peaceful. Its now the Pacific Highway, 4 lanes of busy traffic, the railway line has now gone and its not so quiet but still interesting. We were heading north to the Yosemite Valley and the Sequoia trees of 300ft, one where someone decided to make a roadway through it, and where the seeds have to be fired to germinate. Hense the signs that read DO NOT report forest fires!
BGD Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I and two mates did that PCH run too, on motorbikes about 9 years ago. San Fransisco all the way down to Los Angeles and a little further on South, and then inland through the Mojave desert to Las Vegas. Absolutely fantastic!! Your photo brings back great memories. Enjoy the trip.
chas Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Hi Bill- Have a great time, you cant fail to enjoy it all, and Yosemite is just fantastic, ( try to send some pics of there) and you must call into Las Vegas if its on your intended route, Happy R V ing. :-D
Guest JudgeMental Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Yes we have as well during a 6 week tour of West coast....we stayed at Curry village in centre of Yosemite national park. lake Tahoe is worth a visit as well :-D
colin Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 That railway line at back reminded me of Porteau Cove B.C., can't find our photo's but heres one from google earth. We crossed railtrack to get to campsite which was all little pitches widely spaced in some trees on waters edge. An idillic quite site, BUT, in middle of night a large frieght train came trundling past, that was a shock
