What a scum-bag to do that.

New penalty system for crimes of robbery with violence should sort it:

1st conviction - current penalty.

2nd conviction - current penalty plus corporal punishment (severe).

3rd conviction - mandatory death penalty.

Where the strong have obviously targetted the weak or infirm I would rather go straight to the third option but accept that would be just too much for the liberal elite.

Simple fact is, the ever-growing criminal "community" regulates its members by pain and death and the fear of pain and death. If our society will not apply the same sanctions to them, we are doomed to be forever victims.

Bob ;-)

Such a easy target for these scum Ria and sadly a pointer to how low our society has sunk. Often hear that our prisons are too overcrowded and even persistent offenders are let off with suspended sentences, but along with health and education, law and order is the cornerstone of any caring society, and like the majority of people would gladly pay that little bit more to get them off the streets with as many extra cells as are needed.

Hi Carol & Michele, When these things happen to elderly people and babies, I get really upset, Too much is happening lately, I hate to think how it will affect the pensioner, She will probably never want to go out again, These hooligans, Actually that is too tame a word for them, Do not seem to care whether it is Daylight or Dark, when they commit these offences, I sometimes wonder what sort of homes they come from. Ria.

Sentiments we all share Magaret. Not in favour of 'taking the law' into your own hands, but as in Gaz's position, how on earth are we expected to stand by and watch this happen while magistrates and courts seem oblivious to the pain and suffering these attacks cause, and unless a complete rethink on how we deal with criminals is shortly forthcoming then I for one will simply turn a blind eye to any acts of unlawfull retribution when it seems no other option to protect those we care for is available.

Some years ago now (won't say where or when), I witnessed several scroats beating up a tramp. Just for the hell of it.

I've nothing against a fair fight, and if two drunken guys wanna take it outside for some fisticuffs, that's not an issue for me.....carry on boys.

But this was three teenagers kicking and hitting an old guy who was lying on the floor beside his sleeping bag, in a shop doorway.

No other passers by did anything, they pretended to ignore it, and his screams as they stamped on him over and over again.

I saw mad, and crossed the street and "intervened".

I'm not now as fit or fast as I was then. Then, I was pretty fit and pretty fast.

I believe that the scroats will not be doing that again. Ever.

Someone called the Police 'cos they then "saw a guy beating the crap out of three other guys". The local Pub regulars turned out onto the streets to see the commotion.

Old Bill turns up, asks for witnesses, no-one could remember seeing anything.

Lads in pools of blood, all three of them unconscious. Broken noses, broken arm, broken ribs, broken jaw, one lost most of an ear...he should have stayed down the first time....but no witnesses for the Police, amongst the 20 or so people who'd seen most of it.

I heard the old guy died about 3 months later, still homeless, totally on his own, whilst sleeping overnight in midwinter in another shop doorway.

I still remember him now, and the look of thanks he gave me when I pulled them off him.

Please people, don't complain about your lot.

There's a million people who dream every night of only having the tiny troubles you think you've got.

And if you have to take direct action to stop someone getting kicked to death, or starving to death, because no-one else cares enough to do anything, then have the guts to do so.
