Morocco in late February?

Sometime around 26th February, 2009 another couple and my wife and I will be returning (crossing over) to Morocco in our motorhomes. We have both been to Morocco before and so will be "cherry picking" the places that we want to visit again. We are not going over just to hug the coastline, lovely though it is.

We were all chatting about the trip this afternoon - particularly about the first time we ventured over to that wonderful, but very different, country. It crossed our minds that there might be some folk out there that would like to go but who were a bit wary about going it alone for the first time. If you are one of those folk and would like to "take the plunge" get in touch.

We would not ask/expect you to take the same route as us etc (indeed you might get so fed up with our company during the crossing that you would want to make your own way as soon as we reach Ceuta (the Spanish enclave on North Aftrica)!!!

Anyway, if we can be of any help to anyone thinking of crossing over at that time.................................

Hi, we are planning to go to Morocco late Jan early Feb 09, where would you recommend for a first night stop close to arrival point in Morocco either wild or campsite, we sort of plan to head for the coast at the nearest point really but don't really care as its our first time there and we want to see as much as we can whilst there. *-)

Try Camping Alboustane at Martil - just along the Mediterranean coast from Ceuta. The site is good by Moroccan standards and Martil is a reasonable sized resort town, with bank, shops, internet cafe etc. From memory the camping is well signposted, it's set back behind the apartment buildings close to the beach. Link to Google map: http://tinyurl.com/camping-alboustane - the marker is at the site entrance. The site accepts Euros, and Martil is a relatively civilised introduction to Morocco.

I wouldn't bother with any more of the Med coast, and steer clear of the Rif mountains, with the exception of Chefchaoen which is definitely worth a visit, it's 'bandit country'.
