You could try Steve at Charles & Son in Poole as he is quite helpful and knowledgeable.

I would phone as they are often not too prompt at answering emails!

PS

I too have a non Swift Autocruise (Starlet II) and the current attitude of Autocruise is very much not interested, which says it all about the legendary Swift Group attitude to customer care.

I know it ain't Swift's problem legally but such apathy and bad attitude instilled into Autocruise who used to be so good at customer care has put me off ever buying a Swift Group product in the future.

As a fellow original Autocruise owner, it is worrying that Swift have a "hard luck" attitude to us, but no other manufacturer will be as good as Autocruise were at cutomer service, and aftercare.

With regard to the locker door, and frame, this will be an out-sourced part, if you can find out who makes them, or try Magnum Mobiles at Grimsby, or O'Leary at Hull - both of whom specialise in surplus parts.

The interior box is just a fabricated item, and any small engineering shop will make one.

The skirt is something else - I wouldn't know what to suggest other than again a fabrication shop, as if it is the 2004/5 era, it is built up of approx 3" wide strips.

Best of luck, and let me know if you are successful, a I may something in future.

I've just read a readers letter in a motorhome magazine dated Aug 2008, concerning Autocruise parts. Apparently the chaps habitation door lock failed and he was unable to obtain a replacement from Autocruise/Swift.

He obtained one from Jonathan Pears at Alphalex, 01509 214741, e mail jonathan@alphalex.co.uk He represents FAP, of Italy, which makes lots of parts for all types of motorhomes.

Thanks for that tip Bob. I have had a similar difficulty with the habitation lock on my Autocruise Valentine. Neither Autocruise or Knowepark (where the beast was purchased) could or would give me any help.

I don't know how some companies expect to stay in business if they cannot offer a decent after sales service.

Hi there,

I have a 2004 Valentine, and the habitation door lock failed to operate in so much as it would not catch closed.

I was fortunate enough to obtain a replacement from the factory before Swift closed the door on factory spares.

However, on installing the new lock, the problem was not solved.

I found that adjustment of the striker loop on the door pillar caused the lock to work, so I would suggest that you experiment moving the striker both ways, and hope you find that the problem can be cured.

Best of luck.

I have just found this thread whilst browsing with the search option,

relevant to me, as i am thinking of buying a 2005/6 Autocruise Starburst or Stardream.

Now, Swift are still selling Autocruise Starbursts, which means they are trading on the 'Goodwill' of the previous company (they ARE still using 'Autocruise' and 'Starburst' trade names.) so morally if not legally they should do all they can, to assist owners of ALL Autocruise named motorhomes. I'm not suggesting honouring Gurantees that they never issued, but goodwill in assisting repairs through Autocruise Dealers should be a minimum. For instance supplying names of suppliers of pre-made units/windows etc.,

Autocruise CH were very customer orientated, and didn't their customers love it. Shame the company didn't survive the downturn. They made a good product. Ray
