How about 'black over Bill's mother's' - is that used anywhere else in the UK?

I'm probably wrong Janine but I think that one originated in Brum, not the Black Country. I think it was when the sky was black in the direction of Stratford upon Avon where Willie Spokeshave came from, and meant rain was on the way.

My late Dad's family used to hale from Sussex and always used the term "looks a bit black over Will's Mum's" if it looked like rain. *-)
