And later this evening she'll be receiving me...... ;-) I got a customised saddle for my motorbike (well haven't actually got it, but it's on order from a specialist vehicle upholsterer), Big bottle of Bailey's, tin of choccies, a 2009 ACSI card and book, the new ACDC album; oh and a surprise extra gig last night for megabucks too (was going to have the night off, but a very big local restaurant phoned at 7pm, desperate, as the live music act they'd booked had let them down. Offered just too much dosh for me to turn the gig for them down, so we went, I did the gig, and we both ate there gratis, and got a bottle of Cava from them too as an extra thankyou). A very good Crimbly thingy for us. :-D

omidknight Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 BGD - 2008-12-25 8:50 PM I got a customised saddle for my motorbike (well haven't actually got it, but it's on order from a specialist vehicle upholsterer), Had a good time then Bruce - well done Err... was it a man, woman or undecided that measured your bum for this custom seat? And did you enjoy it? If not why not?
BGD Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 omidknight - 2008-12-26 11:12 AM BGD - 2008-12-25 8:50 PM I got a customised saddle for my motorbike (well haven't actually got it, but it's on order from a specialist vehicle upholsterer), Had a good time then Bruce - well done Err... was it a man, woman or undecided that measured your bum for this custom seat? And did you enjoy it? If not why not? Long distance measuring is a complicated process. Especially when said specialist vehicle upholsterer is one of those real, ancient craftsmen, sitting in some victorian workshop "oop north", who sounds about 103 years old, wrestling with his new-fangled telephone apparatus, and has utterly no idea what the internet is, let alone emails, and speaks with the densest "flat-cap-and-whippet-down-me-trousers" dialects ever heard. Oh, and then total re-measuring has to be done 'cos of course he's still working in groats and bushels rather than metric. And can't convert the numbers sent to him. And all such infomation had to be sent back and forth by snail-mail, with accompanying sketches on stretched velum....to some address there that contained no postcode (apparently because "We doona bother with such roobish ooop here, just pop me name on it, old Bert the village Postie knows who I am") I suspect the finished product will be stuffed with horsehair (mammoth hair?) by the chimney-sweeping young boy of an apprentice, by the light of the single flax-oil candle in the ancient mill building, and stitched in cat-gut by some old crone with leathery dugs, dribbling from her toothless gape as her wizened claw-like fingers scrabble across the work. And then despatched down the hillside by donkey train to the nearest hillstation connected to the real world by steam locomotive (yes, it passes through here EVERY week nowadays m'lad). And as a result, will probably be the best and comfiest motorcycle custom saddle ever crafted.........
Mel B Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Just make sure you check the saddle for any stray needles that may have been left in it Bruce, seeing as the maker's eye-sight won't be as good as it was ... don't want you to get any nasty surprises do we now! :D
michele Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Randonneur - 2008-12-26 10:49 AM Whooping cough - miserable. SylviaOh dear hope you feel better soon :'(

Carol - Clearly a mis-addressed package, Santa's eyesight isn't what it was. Many thanks for advising me; now if you could just forward it on to me here, unopened, that would be fine and dandy......... :D
Hymer C 9. Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 :D *-) Hic its gone, was much enjoyed though Carol. :D :D .
michele Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 has anyone ried that Carolands .similar to Baileys at half the price 14% proof really quite nice . Bruce try it its only £5.74 a bottle. :D
colin Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I must be getting old! I'm quite satisfied with some simple gifts. Sub to MMM, much appriciated (got to keep in with the mod :D ) Foul weather coat, came back from walking dogs a couple of weeks back looking like a drowned rat when my coat 'failed', ever since been asking where 'birds' mag with discount for coat was. Willow log basket, after dinner walked past where the willows where cut. Cash with a 'command' that it must be spent on my new rifle. Couple of Sudoku books, think thats more of a gift to gf as it keeps me quite. Couple of bottles of 'cooking' whisky, better than using the good stuff when some one asks for whisky and coke.
howie Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Best present I had was a hot water bottle. Titter if you will, but I had forgotten how much of a difference it makes when you climb in between the sheets. Warmer than the missus and no dig in the ribs when I cuddle up to it either.
BGD Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 michele - 2008-12-27 5:36 PM has anyone ried that Carolands .similar to Baileys at half the price 14% proof really quite nice . Bruce try it its only £5.74 a bottle. :D I've tried the Carolans. Agree - it's pretty good stuff. The Sparkle is doing an economising thingy at the moment, and has just purchased a number (4) of bottles of the Lidl own-brand version of the nectar, called "Queen Margot" Irish Cream Licquer to keep me going through this week. It's actually extremely good stuff indeed!! Currently on "special" here at a euro off the normal price, so only 3.69 euros a bottle. Highly recommended for all other pikey people too..... (3.69 euros would be about £27 at todays exchange rate I guess.......)
ROON Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Awwwww Mick, That's lovely. Beggar what I got this year can someone arrange for me to have a man as lovely and romantic as he for next year, please? :'(
catinou Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Son and daughter-in-law home from Dubai (just for the week), Christmas day with elder son, his wife and our two beautiful grandchildren - not to mention my darling husband of 31 years of course! :-D A week before Christmas I had been nagging my husband to buy a Wii games consul - to no avail :'( ) On Christmas day, last, extra present to us from elder son and wife was - a Wii consul :D :D :D (we had previously agreed to be creative by exchanging no more than £10's worth of presents per couple this year. Apparently my daughter-in-law had one it in a competition - now all we need is to find where somebody sells a WiiFit for a decent price - all reasonable ones are sold out for next 8 weeks so everybody else is hiking up the prices!!! On Saturday, younger son's wife gave a personal gift to me - a framed photo of my son in the desert - he was SMILING at the camera! 8-) - (he is notorious for avoiding having his photo taken at any time and when he gets caught is usually scowling at the camera :-S ) All told - a wonderful, time has been had by all! I hope everybody else enjoyed as much as we did....... B-)
jacqui Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I for one have really enjoyed the Christmas break, its been my first one out of catering, so although it took a while for me to find my Christmas spirit (Dave says it was because I missed cooking all those dinners through nov and dec), we had the family round as usual but had our meal in the early evening as both the girls (both Chefs) were working, so had a quiet day with Dave setting up the new Tv, then a lovely afternoon when the girls finished we opened pressies then Daves parents arrived and we had a relaxing meal, but it was strange having so many days at home without having to go to work....... heaven (lol) (lol) (lol)
