The Forest Site (linked to C&CC) at Glenmore a few miles into tne Cairngorms from Aviemore itself is open all year - hoping for skiing ! Not within walking distance of the village but adjacent shop, gift shop, resident reindeer, dry ski/sledge slop suitable for children, sandy beach on Loch Morlich (adjacenet to site) and lots of walks both low and high level. Funicular railway to top of Cairngorm. The site at Nethy Bridge (half way bewtween Aviemore and Glenmore may also be open - not sure.

Worth considering Granton on Spey, in the same neck of the woods, as an alternative. Top Caravan Club site open all year. Walking distance of village with shops, hotels, pubs. Walk/cycle along disused railway line. "This family site, set in the heart of the Highlands and within Cairngorm National Park, is a short stroll from the sedate little town of Grantown-on-Spey with its olde-worlde shops. This is a great outdoor holiday experience; family walkers of all abilities can choose from gentle woodland trails, rugged scree scrambles or summer strolls across the fragrant moors. A haven for wildlife, you are likely to see red deer roaming freely. There are several golf courses in the area, and anglers can fish for salmon or trout in the famous River Spey. For sightseeing, you are close to the impressive Cairngorms and the skiing village of Aviemore. The world's only Malt Whisky Trail is a must where you can sample many of Scotland's finest whiskies. In all, a stress-free area where you can unwind at your own pace."

Great little site at Rothiemurchus, a couple of miles out of Aviemore, and within walking distance of the Hilton, with its walkers / skiiers bar. Also good walks into the woods from the site. Its part touring pitches / part permanents, and is ideal for motorhomes.

Personally don't like the Glenmore site, pitches too close together and lack of certainty as to whether you will get a hardstanding pitch or not!
