Joy (Roon) New Lap Top. & Dongle Help.

Hymer C 9.

Recommended Posts

Have just been on the phone to Joy, and she has been out and bought herself a new lap top and 5mg Dongle, her questions are.

1) she does not have a e mail address now would you recommend Hotmail / Yahoo or any other suggestions.

she says it will take a couple of days to get set up because her Dad is poorly again, but can't wait to get on line, | will pass any messages on.

She also said there is a great man on the forum who is helping her and she is really grateful.

Joy sends her love and hugs and wishes everyone a very Happy & Healthy New Year, and really really appreciates all the help and support she has off everyone on the forum Carol.

Don't recommend Hotmail, there's far too much spam allowed through.

Ask Joy to try GoogleMail, the account is easy to set up and 99% of the dross is filtered out -

I'd echo the warning about hotmail.

It's also slow and cumbersome to use, and the storage is (or was, last time I looked) very stingy.

I've been hapopy for years now with yahoo email. It's romote, so you can access it anywhere in the world, and you don't lose your email account(s) if you change internet service providers.

The new version (still undergoing beta testing) is IMHO extremely good. And you get unlimited storage...so never need to delete any emails that aren't spam any more:

:-D

Hi Carol, Yes thank you. You were right they are all at the bottom of page.

New laptop not bad but struggling having no mouse... Thank you all for help re the email situation...

Dongle and computer had me tearing hair out. I went to Curry's and signed up for a two year contract. The assistant threw the first dongle away as it wouldn't work. Then three of them couldn't get the second to work. I was in there over two hours. Then they phoned up THEIR OWN help line and tol me to go home and the dongle would be working within an hour.

Last night I was onto the help line for another two hours and it still wouldn't work! Today, I went to my local branch of Curry's and he sorted it in ten minutes..... the other assistants had cocked it up.

Missed you all so much and trying to catch up now. Big hugs, xx

That's nonsense. I use "HOTMAIL" and don't get any Spam. OUTLOOK EXPRESS is the one you get loads of Spam on.

Hi Joy

I am a bit of a dead brain myself but if I have sussed out the above correctly I use aol for my e mails, once you are registered you can access from any computor any where in the world, I have been with them 12+ years. I pay £14.99 a month and can log on for as long as I like.

Thanks again all. That seems a good deal Geof and Angi.

Peter, I know what you mean about Outlook Express. That was the one that I was on and getting all that spam through. The problem is also that it opens the mail as you work your way up, so if there was anything damaging in it, you are opening it up without clicking on it.

Appreciate all your comments and have now started sorting it. Joy x
