Now the other thing is I have been with the grils and he has been with the boys but not bad really considering we have the three to juggle :D

Oops all out of England .

Will do England next year at easter

We have not slept in our Bungalow since I took Redundancy/ early retirement 10 years ago, we travel a lot and when " home " we still sleep in our van in the garden. the van is always ready to go and it very often does. we have electric hook ups in the garden so we feel we are camping all the time, I'm a bit confused though, do we qualify as full timers or what are we ?? *-) *-) *-)

Only 81 in 2008, would have been more but I injured my foot which prevented as adding at least another 40/50 nights! We are retired and try to take two trips to Europe a year with the odd few days here and there in the UK.

Martyn,

This is a question worthy of asking on this thread you have started,

Those who go away for long periods of time, what do you do while away? how do you occupy your time? apart from eating and sleeping in your van what do you do?

Visit places of interest, sightseeing, meandering around towns and villages or what? do you pursue some kind of interest or hobby?

I 'm guessing that most people who go away on long trips spend the time travelling and exploring.

(If I was going to stay in one place for a long time I think I would just rent a chalet).

We've done 42 nights away in the van, and 14,000 miles since we got her on 6 March. And we both have full-time jobs!

Ice & snow, no problem - we just put the Webasto on.

She's been our only vehicle (the Mini has been away most of the year having major bodywork done) but there's no daily commute - most of that mileage has been for fun, including 2 continental trips.

May/June - 11 (should've been 16!)

Aug/Sept - 16

Late Sept 4

Plus another 4 or so during the year

Total = 35

Not as many as we would've liked due to the camper being damaged in June so we had to cut that holiday short and also then couldn't use it again much until our next major holiday at the end of August when it was fixed 1 day before we departed! Also with Midge beng poorly that's stopped us having any time away since the Pickering show in September. :-(

We're going to make up for it this year though!!!! :->

This is top quality info and thanks again to you all, oh & Happy New Year now it's here!!

The subject is just someting that interests me, partly from hearing stories about folk selling vans as they're not using them enough.

Of course one persons usage is too much or too little isn't it, we're all different but I m quite fascinated as to what different usage we get from our hobby.

Yes I know I'm sad - sorry :D :D

What do we do when away in our vans someone asked, well to be honest I sometimes wonder that myself, you get up in the morning and tinker around and before you know it its bedtime again and you wonder where the day went, Its called quality time I think, but whatever its great. :-o :-o :-o

2008 was our first year of motorhoming and we only managed 18 nights away, our new year resolution is to make this far more in 2009.

The reasons for not getting away more are that we only picked our MH up in Mid April, spent one weekend trying it out then it was off the road for 4 weeks with mechanical trouble. As soon as it was fixed I was out of the country with work for a total of over 4 weeks (but 7 weekends) until our main Hol at the end of July.

We've since managed a few weekends away (without any of the kids!) and are thoroughly enjoying it.

We both work full time and can only take weekday breaks during school hols so are fairly limited.

Again this year I should have my annual works trip driving to the South of Italy via Austria for 3 weeks then a week at the Nurburgring in Germany so will be limited on weekends during June and July but I'm sure we can work around that.

Happy new year to you all and carry on motorhoming!

Keith.

We have been motorcaravanning since 2001 and have clocked up between 160 and 130 nights per year. This is normally done by way of a week at Easter, 2.5 to 3 months May-July and 2 months September to early November. All the long breaks have been abroad.

We are both now retired, but when we started my wife worked during the winter months and had the summer off.

We amuse ourselves of an evening by reading, listening to music and not watching TV (don't have one with us), during the day we tour and look at interesting things (very wide tastes).

112 Nights over the 18 months we have had the van, so 75 average per year. We go away 1 weekend in every 2 and usually 1 trip of 2 weeks and 2 trips of 1 week in per year. Weekenders in the UK, longer trips France, Holland, Belgium so far. One of us is retired, one not. Retired one does all the cleaning, servicing, prepping and organising between trips of course.
