MotorhomeViews
Hi We are off to Spain March 11 2009. Will travel down through Spain taking our time and starting to put a few plans in place. Seemed like a good idea to start this on new years eve, with a few glasses to see in the new year. Looking for ideas for stops on the way down, think we,ll probably take a few weeks at the Mar Menor region, think it's Murcia. Return via France to pick up the ferry at Calais. Know aires are few and far between if you can find them , so we have ordered the campingcard subscription from Vicarious books. We have Gaslow refillable LPG , is it readily available in Spain? Also do we need a Spanish adapter, we have one for France. So any advice welcomed re sites, LPG, roads , point of interest for TomTom satnav etc Best Regards for 2009 pat and trev eden http://www.motorhomeviews.talktalk.net/
horse444
Hi, sorry havent been on computor due to bad flu, so just saw your posting, we normally go to spain every January, doing the oppositie, calaise to Dover, sometimes we take our time down, (depending on weather)stoping at Challon, Beune, Macon, Lyon etc all very nice especially Beune and Macon, other times we drive longer on toll road (marking out overnight stops, such as Beune) and arrive Spain quicker, personally we didnt like the site at Mar Menor, but there are some very good sites on Costa Blanca (open all year) La Marina is a 5star site with everything, 20 mins.from Alicante, and the way back up there is Benicassim and several others. We carry two gas bottles and have never run out, but we use small elec. cooker and barbee in the awning. We personally dont like using aires,as we like all facilites. Also El Raco in Benidorm is very nice, clean and very friendly, and at that time of year Benidorm is very quite, and weather usualy good, have a great time, and Oh maybe you would let us know how your crossing and journey was, as we have never been that route, thanks. MotorhomeViews
Hi Peter thanks for the site information. We will definitely use this on this years tour. Things are looking good now for the off date of 11 march. Our motor-home has been repaired at long last , the damp repair that is. It is presently sitting on the drive, we are fitting a few extras like fire extinguisher , coat hooks and TV bracket. Still have to complete the Gaslow to Standard propane pipework and then we can arrange a couple of nights at Sherwood Forest or Clumber Park to try out the new silver screen windshield cover and the new double sleeping bag. Bought one of those with different tog thickness top and bottom so you can choose the level of insulation required. best regards Trev and Pat
