ROON
Can someone tell me how to make the page fit the full screen please, before I go blind for a non-fun reason. The whole page is squashed up so much that even the emoticons can't fit inbetween the space and cover my words. Thank you. Maggy I bought one of those mice and it is brilliant. Thank you. Keithl
Hi Joy, Try either double clicking the blue or black title bar at the top (where it says Internet explorer or Firefox) OR single click the 'Maximise' button which is the centre of the three at the top right (next to the 'close' button). Randonneur
Joy, don't take this the wrong way, but why don't you buy one of the books 'Computers for Dummies' or similar. I bought one of these 'Vista for Dummies' when I bought my new laptop so that I could better understand the differences between Windows XP which I had been using since it came out and other people had said it was difficult to use. You use these books as reference only, not as a normal reading book. Look up in the index what you are struggling with and find the answer (most of the time). I am sure it would help. I have been using computers since 1981 so I don't consider myself as a 'Dummy' but am quite willing to search for help anywhere I can.

net-traveller
Maximise will make it fill the screen. However, you may want to size it so that you can see more than 1 window at any time. The easy way to do this is to run your mouse slowly across the corner of the window and when the pointer changes to a small diagonal line with an arrow at each end hold down your left button and drag the corner. When its at the right size let go of the button. You can do this on any/all of the corners so you can have a short fat window or even a long tall window. The change you make will remain until you make another one. ;-)
Brian Kirby
If you're using IE7, look in the bottom right corner of your screen, and you should see a magnifying glass symbol with (probably) 100% written beside it. Click the arrow beside that, and select the magnification you want.
Hymer C 9.
Joy just checked the book I got and it is Windows Vista for Seniors, got it from PC world and it is explained in terms that even I can understand and that takes some doing, it may worth a look. Guest Tracker
That is remarkable - seven different ways to solve the problem from seven different people. Just goes to show that there is no right or wrong - just different dunnit!
ROON
Hi Rich, (and thanks everybody) but it's this new Vista thing that's messing me around. Out of all those ideas only Brian's works!!!! I'm going to go for that Vista book too to help sort things out. Netman I didn't realise I was already magnified to full page because the middle bit was so small.... 8-) but the magnifier sorted it out. Thank you. Guest Tracker
Tracker - 2009-01-06 9:58 AM Press 'Ctrl' and whilst it is pressed roll the mouse wheel to increase or decrease the font size. And it works on Vista - well it does on ours on any web site pages with Vista anyway - ah - but we use Firefox not IE so that might explain it! Bazza454
Hi Joy,When you have a bit of time to spare, have a look at the attached Microsoft support for Vista, everything you need is there, you just have to trawl for it -http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-GB/default.mspx
Brian Kirby
ROON - 2009-01-06 7:54 PM Hi Rich, (and thanks everybody) but it's this new Vista thing that's messing me around. Netman I didn't realise I was already magnified to full page because the middle bit was so small.... 8-) but the magnifier sorted it out. Thank you. Glad I was of help, but I honestly wouldn't bother with a Vista book. Vista is just the operating system, it is the programmes that do the work. Problem is, the updated versions of the programmes, like IE, Word, Excel, etc, in their 2007 versions are, in my opinion, (compared to 2003 versions) HORRIBLE! If you are struggling, it is almost certainly these, rather than Vista, that are the cause. However, take heart, they can be tamed and made to work sensibly! The maddening bit is "the ribbon". Right click that, and select "minimise the ribbon", then it only appears when you click a "pull-down". Next, right click again on the bar at the top of the screen, and select "customise the quick access tool-bar", you'll find all your favourite shortcut commands (cut, copy, paste, format, etc etc) all there, and ready to be added to the tool-bar. Fiddle with that for a while and you'll get most of them back. Final flourish, right click at the top of the screen once more, and select "show the quick access tool-bar above the ribbon". Oh yea! But why, why, why, did they take something so (relatively) familiar and simple, and complicate it so much?

ROON
Brian, you are a mind-reader. You have just solved another of my problems and, hopefully, it should be easier now. Bazza, thanks for that will take a look at it when I have spare half hour. Grateful to you. Joy
