Ian_Fearn
I did this trip in 2007, it was amazing, i'd be going again this year if there was a ferry. Doing the land route is just too far.
spospe
I am not aware of a new operator for the UK to Norway route since DFDS stopped last September. It is possible to go UK to Denmark to Norway and depending on where you live in the UK this may be attractive. We have done the whole trip by driving from our home near Stockport to Dover, Calais, through Germany to Puttgarden, to Denmark, to Sweden to Norway. It is quite a long route and to do it at leisure needs four or five days (better take a week and see the sights en-route).
peedee
Its a fair old hike from Calais, I took 14 days to get to Oslo but I did spend 6 days in Denmark. Legoland and Copenhagen are well worth visiting. peedee

Guest JudgeMental
Calais to far IMO....Have been to Northern Sweden twice. once via Harwich - Esberg (Denmark) and the other time via hook of Holland which was an extra days drive..... if you travel to Esberg it is a 3 hour drive to the port of Freideriksavn (north Denmark) and you can get boats to Norway or Sweden from there
