Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Just reading the thread on bitter cold when some reminiscing came in before it came back onto thread so thought it would be nice to have a few of our memories on these cold winter nights. I well remember warming the school milk on the pipes running along the class room, and great big slides of ice down the school yard and all taking turns in sliding down (no guesses who broke there arm) but in the none PC world it was just part of life. maggyd Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 And cutting squares of snow (it was that deep) to make a snow shed or igloo!! never managed to get a top on :-D. scraping the ice off the INSIDES of te windows on a morning! and trying to make ice lollies by puttig egg cups of lemonade wit a matchstick in on the outside bedroom windowsill. :-D. michele Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Maggie, Knew you must of been near me Newcastle as we dont really get snow here in the south wuss down here :D I remember also making igloos cutting the snow, making ice pops, jublees we used to call them :D I an remember opening the front door seeing the snow or rather it fell into the house and we had three steps high ones as well. Catching the birds flying away after pecking the top of the gold top milk off :D And inside having a ice plug for an inch or two in the bottle so the milk wouldnt come out .Long slides in the school playground ,the best you have ever seen and most of all toboggan with the dogs my cockerspaniel always had snowball feet but she loved it i used to melt the ice off her feet when we got home. lastly getting a clump off me ma for Your GONNA GET CHILBLAINES :D :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
