There was nothing wrong with Terry nappies and disposable liners, we brought our two up using them, no trouble and I often looked after the kids when my wife was away.

The liners were very useful for straining home brew (we always used new liners for this purpose) and there was no problem of the disposal of millions of disposable nappies into land-fill like there is today.

When my daughter was born - 30 years ago - this was a mining town and instead of nappies I bought a supply of the white square hand towels the men used on coming up from the pits, (new ones). They were strong, soft and really hardwearing. I still have them today and use them as hand towels in the motorhome ..... and they STILL look brilliant white hanging out on the line blowing in the wind. Joy
