KJP
We have a 2006 Autotrail Tracker on a Fiat 2.0 JTD. Recently an usual type of thud noise has started. It happens around the front of the vehicle at the drivers side, for instance walk into the cab area ,sit in the bench seat next to the drivers seat of even sit in the drivers seat it self. Not so sure it is a habitation problem and more of a mechanicial problem. Could it be problem with springs or shocks or something around the wheel. No problems when driving. There is no creaking etc just a thud type noise. Any ideas before I go to the Fiat dealer?
Guest Tracker
Check the bolts that hold the Motor home part to the Fiat chassis for tightness - ours were not loose but certainly not tight either! All the furniture - bed lockers, wardrobe, fridge cabinet, kitchen units, overhead lockers - are screwed to the wall, floor and ceiling and the fixings covered by little brown circular blanking plugs. Take 'em all off one by one and tighten all the screws as ours were all not very tight when we got it. Some vans do creak like that - and some don't - and sometimes it can be worse on a slope depending on what way you slope! If everything is tight and secure you might just have to live with it? Can't recall whether the conversion has a three year warranty - worth a check maybe? Our Tracker was the worst van for rattle and squeak that we have had in recent years - shame 'cos otherwise it was a good van.
KJP
The vehicle has a three year warranty the sound comes from the under floor area so it could be the bolts that hold the chasis to the conversion.
libby
Did a mechanic leave an object in a space when it was being built so that it rolls about at times. This wouldn't be the first vehicle to have captured a workshop part!
