Peter Pan
The Transit has plastic trim on the exterior windscreen pillars. Both have fallen off on my Hobby Van. The O/S on the first journey in May 07, the N/S a couple of weeks ago whilst travelling along the M4. Has anyone else experienced this problem on a Mk.7? Derek Uzzell
It's not something I've heard of and probably your best bet for checking whether it's a known fault (or "characteristic" in Fiat-speak!) would be to ask about it via the Ford Transit forum. http://fordtransit.org/ Presumably Ford will have replaced the detached trims under warranty? Peter Pan
Thanks for the reply Derek. The first trim was replaced under warranty. My new (I just moved to Bristol) local dealer has told me that trim is not covered after 12 months. I intend to query this with Ford direct. I did wonder whether Hobby may have removed the trim during build which would excuse Ford.
Peter Pan
Derek I checked with Ford. The trim is covered by warranty for 3 years.
Derek Uzzell
Yes - my understanding was that the Transit's warranty was 'bumper-to-bumper' for everything that wasn't a wear-and-tear component. Dunno if Hobby removes the windscreen trim to make painting easier. Certainly the fact that you've lost both trim-pieces is a mite suspicious.
