trickydicky
hi, we are thinking of going to the above in april.we have just bought a new van, but would like to purchase an awning of some description (haven't a clue about awnings). do you think the show will have some and this is our best option or are we better off looking elsewhere. any guidance will be appreciated. Philjp
There have been awnings on display at the last 2 shows at peterborough. You do need to look at which way an awing will fit onto your van. and will it allow you to drive away and leave awning on site. Or are you looking for a wind out awning (canopy)Permantly fixed to the van.all this will depend on the type of motorhome you have, ie... coachbuilt or panel van
Don Madge
I think the show opens "officially" now at midday on Thursday instead of Friday morning although in the past one could wander about as the traders were setting up on Thursday. Maybe somebody from the exhibition dept can confirm this. Don

Don According to the leaflet which came with our camping ticket, the exhibition is open from 1pm to 5pm on the Thursday (camping fields open from 10am). david lloyd
trickydicky There is usually at least one trader selling drive away awnings and others selling roll outs (which can have 'safari' room sides and front added) but there are other makes that are not often on the stands - so you may wish to do a bit of ferreting about beforehand to see what interests you then have a look at the show to see if there is anything you like. Keith T
Hi - would certainly agree you need to do some research before you go, and more importantly have some idea of what you want, and not be swayed by a salesperson. Over the years with various motorhome, we've had the drive away type, then Fiamma Wind-out , next one we went to this plus complete zip in room, now back to Omnistor wind-out but have the side peices when required. We think this is slighlty more stable and stronger than the Fiamma, but none is perfect, and you really need to look carefully at what function is it to fulfil..... ....all of them (bit like motorhomes really, are something of a compromise! trickydicky
thanks for advice. we think we would like an awning that doesn't fit to the motorhome.when we were away it was very windy and a lot of people had damage to their motorhomes caused by their attached awning. we want an awning purely to put a table and 2 chairs in (and the odd of pair of shoes), so were thinking of something about 3mtrs by 2mtrs.and something strong enough to withstand wind. One of the Khyam Motordome awnings might suit you. We bought the larger Excelsior model (because our van needed the extra height) two and a half years ago and have been very pleased with it. Easy to erect and take down because the frame is built in and it's never blown down even in pretty high winds. Graham
