trickydicky
hi, we have just returned from 8 weeks in spain. we had a wonderful time and found plenty of aires during our journey through france. the problem was the drive from san sebastian to valencia. we couldn't find anywhere to park up for the night and it is a long journey, (although the new A23 is supurb). does anyone know of any suitable overnight parking on this stretch of the journey. colinfrier
This should only be a few miles off route. Leave Zaragosa on the A2 for Madrid just a couple of miles Repsol Petrol Station on right with adjacent lorry park facilities for about 6 motorhomes secure site with night guard not sure if its free we did not pay. colinfrier
I have now checked the location of the lorry/motorhome park between junction 10 and 8 on A2.From A23 you should hit Z40 ring road around Zaragosa before picking up A23 again just divert down the A2 towards Madrid only a couple of miles. derek500
trickydicky - 2009-03-07 5:43 PM (although the new A23 is superb). Isn't it, just? Seeing more motorhomes the last couple of times we've done it, so it's catching on. Fast, quiet and of course free. We've never overnighted, as we tend to leave home (Valencia) at about 8am and always get to the French Pyranees (summer) or Biarritz (winter) by tea time. enodreven
Hi, I have looked on my copy of Autoroute 2007 and it dosen't show the full extent of the A23 it shows it as rather patchy changing road number quiet a few times, is it now one contuious road and what route does it follow as it sound like an idea way to go. thanks for any advice
derek500
The A23 is now a toll free motorway from Sagunto on the Med coast just north of Valencia to Zaragosa. It then travels north as a non motorway, via Huesca to the French border at the Somport tunnel (toll free). In the colder months we travel from Zaragosa on non toll roads to Irun on the French/Spanish border, just south of Biarritz, to avoid the Pyranees.
