Ripped Awning

Autotrail Traker EKS (2007)

As I was winding in my awning the bolt that holds the arm in was protruding, I don't know how this happened and was unseen by me, as I wound it in it caught my awning leaving me with a rip about 12 inches long, I only knew about it when the awning wouldn't wind in any more, nor would it wind out. Fortunately an other camper knew what they were doing and dismantled the arm took a hammer to the proturding bolt and re-wound the awing in. I've not wound it out since.

I now have to try and get the awning repaired, any suggestions...can I claim via Autotrail, they fitted the awning, or do I need to contact the awning maker. As it is an SE Pack not sure who the manufacturer is

or should I claim via my insurance any advice would be appreciated.

Is the vehicle still under warranty ? If it is and the Awning came as a standard fit accessory then you may be able to take it back to the dealer you purchased it from and get them to replace it. If this fails then there may be other forum contributors who know of Awning repair specialists, alternatively look in the adverts in the Motorhome Magazines or Google Motorhome Awnings on the Internet.

ripped my awning this year , similar rip to yours it needs replacing but as it ripped along a pink area i have patched it to see me through. my wifes blow up head restraint was the same colour and waterproof so cut it up and pulling the tear together stuck the slip of restraint over the top with a proprietory glue from b&q. placed a piece of wood underneath and let it go off. now i cannot see the tear unless i look hard and it will get me through untill i have the time to sort matters out. only a stop gap but hope it helps (?)
