Headlamp Deflectors for Fiat Ducato X250

Fiat UK

Recommended Posts

Hi,

A number of customers approached us at the recent NEC Show requesting assistance with finding headlamp deflectors for travel in Europe.

The part number is 46003173 and the cost is around £57.78 from a Fiat dealership.

I hope that helps anyone searching.

Many thanks

Presumably the part you mention is a transparent shield that protects a headlamp from damage and permits a 'mask' or beam-deflector to be fixed to it?

It would be useful if you could post a photo of the part, please, and provide some idea of how easy it would be to fit.

. . . . and very good they are too.  We got a set before our last trip abroad.

The black plastic mask fit perfectly into the etched markings on the deflector which allows for perfect alignment.

I only have two slight concerns.

Firstly, once the deflector has been 'hung' on the newly installed metal hanger, you have to use considerable pressure to force the plastic deflector lugs into the gap between the headlamp and the bodywork . . . they've got to snap one day?

Removing them after the trip was a bit heart-in-mouth as I was waiting to hear a crack as one of the lugs snapped off.  You have to provide quite a bit of pressure to pull the deflector lugs out of the gap.

Secondly, I did think about leaving them in place permanently to protect the valuable plastic headlamps but could not remove the black plastic mask sticker (they provide two sets).  The backing adhesive is very efficient and it looks like I'll need to scrape it off which will scratch the plastic deflector.

Any advice from Mr Fiat would be greatly appreciated.

Hvae just bought and fitted Headlight Protectors (for the mk 2 ducato 2005) Got them from 4 x4 accessories and tyres cost 43.59 of which 8.90 was postage. Ordered them Thurs pm arrived before 12 noon the next day.!! Will use them for the beam deflectors, save keep sticking onto glass, which is then difficult to clean off Also easier to just put on /take off as required.

hope this helps

Ours are fitted to a 2007 Ducato (with the new style headlights).

My point was, that despite them being a great way of fitting deflectors in the perfect position, either the black plastic 'masks' need to peal off easier or the plastic lens needs to be fitted easier without having to force it between the gaps.

Currently I'm very concerned that applying too much pressure will snap off the plastic lugs.

I was hoping for some advice from Mr Fiat but he seems too busy to reply.  Maybe flat out rectifying the reversing problem?

Hello W2G,After the initial shock of realising that the Fiat quoted price of £57.58 is Ex-vat I managed to pick up a pair for £60, still expensive but a great deal cheaper than having to replace a headlight at £164.Fitting was relatively easy and on mine I peeled off the plastic sheet on the lugs and they fit under the headlights more easily and are easy to remove. I did have to modify the nearside unit front plastic lug by shaving off 5mm to clear an obstruction under the headlight unit. Having had protectors like these fitted on a previous model Ducato and having also had problems peeling off the black plastic masks I discarded the supplied masks and used silver plastic tape (similar to Fablon) instead. My only concern is whether the top metal clips are rustproof (they appear to be stainless steel) and whether they will loosen with removal and refitting of the deflectors. They are only held in place by the plastic top wing section.Regards,Mike.
