Mike Chapman
We have just discovered a product called New and Improved Spontex Window Wonder supplied as a free sample. It promises "Smear Free Cleaning for all Glass surfaces" without the need for chemicals or cleaning liquids and for use on a variety of glass surfaces windows mirrors and computer screens. Oh yes? we have heard that before except this Microfibre Cloth really does work. Having cleaned all the mirrors and glass panel doors in the house I set to on the Motorhome cab windscreen interior and side windows, habitation windows, cooker front panel glass and bathroom mirror all now smear free and shining. Mike pinched it for his computer screen and copier and was last seen descending on the car to clean its windows. Not sure how much these cost in the shops but would guess at somewhere between £1 and £2. Beats the hell out of clothes, dusters, chamois leather and newspaper. Happy polishing, Kay. Big Momma
Any idea the best place to purchase such miraculous wonder Mike ?
Guest Tracker
Be careful what you use on the windscreen as some chemical compounds can cause a smeary screen that is a pain to clear. Flash liquid in the washers works quite well and is cheaper than screen wash - and if you buy Lidl's own label equivalent it's even cheaper. If all else fails some cellulose thinners on a paper towel will really shift the crud but don't get any on the paintwork as it WILL melt the paint. Mike Chapman
Big Momma - 2009-03-28 3:38 PM Any idea the best place to purchase such miraculous wonder Mike ? Hello Big Momma, We have seen them in Tesco and other supermarkets and Homebase and B & Q also stock them. Tesco have a similar product but with two in a yellow and blue packet for £1.59. Spontex are £1.99 for one. Regards, Mike. Hello Tracker, The advantage of these cloths are that they do not need any cleaning chemicals they just have to be dampened with water. When dirty they can be washed through in warm water and then re-used. Regards, Mike.
Guest Tracker
Difficult to quite see how a wet cloth alone will clear road and oil film residue from a windscreen Mike - or am I missing something?
Mike Chapman
Hello Tracker, The cloth is more about getting a clean smear free finish. I doubt that it would be as good at getting a filthy windscreen clean, more to be used as a finishing cloth. Must give it a try. It certainly worked on a relatively clean but dusty windscreen and window exteriors on the car. Regards, Mike
Patricia
Mike I read your post with interest and went out before the posts saying where these cloths can be bought. Anyway I went to Lidl and found AquaPur microfibre cloths for smear-free windows, chrome and mirrors. Probably not the same product but I will give them a go - think they were 2 for £1.99. Tstar
I am unofficially known as micro-fibre woman. I use the all the time, at home and in the 'van. They are excellent for all surfaces and lift dust and greasy fingerprints with little effort. Poundland do really large cloths for £1 each, they also sell a large sponge with microfibre noodles on one side and a rougher surface on the other - ideal for cleaning the 'vans paintwork! :-D
