Forester
How about this for OVER CHARGING. Per night. £20 per unit, + £13.50 per person NO SHOWERS/TOILETS It's on the dates we are going to a RAF Tattoo Show on 18/19 July that's all i can say (google the dates) total costs if we were going to this "field" for 3 nights for myself & Maggie alone is £141.00. Tony Jones
I does sound "sky-high" :D doesn't it? Maybe they're including landing fees for your helicopter! Seriously though, their site http://www.airshowcamping.co.uk/Front%20page.htm says they DO have showers , and quite a few other facilities. And it's not clear that the £20 pitch fee is "per night" - the way it's worded that bit could be a one-off fee, but the "per person" charge is clearly "per night." But maybe you've found out more as you've gone through the booking system? Still a rip-off IMHO! And I do get cross with people who won't let you do a "one-night stand" (And before Mel misunderstands me AGAIN, I mean event/campsite organisers of course!!) Patricia
I agree wholeheartedly with your last paragraph Tony. Not everyone wants to go for a whole long weekend and many are unable to. One or two nights at a reasonable cost would be great although I appreciate it would be difficult to police it and I suppose there would be people who would abuse the paid-for length of stay. J9withdogs
C & CC usually have a rally field nearby. I'm sure they will be a lot cheaper than that!

Guest Tracker
Thanks Janine! The CCC have temporary holiday sites covering those dates at Moreton in Marsh at £6 pun and at Stratford on Avon at £6.50 pun. There is also a CCC Club site at Winchcombe (remember Winchcombe Janine?). Can't find any info on rallies on the website.
J9withdogs
The rallies are usually in the monthyl magazine,I think. I'm sure that last year there was a rally site near Fairford.

J9withdogs
I've always wondered why it's called a 'one night STAND'? *-)
colin
Well not sure about beating that price but Gatcombe Festival of Eventing costs a fair bit. If going by car for the three days you get two people in plus parking for £40. To park a van (you get no more space) it's £140 fixed charge for event. Big Momma
There are also a lot of certified Sites in the area so may be worth looking at some of those. I know prices are soaring but didn't realise they were jetting up that fast, I guess if you refuse to pay you get ejected :D

JohnP
The Gloucestershire Centre of the Caravan Club are holding a rally at Fairford. 0.25 north of the runway and within walking distance oif the entrance They are charging £11.00 a night with no facilities other than water tap and emptying point. Have just looked on their web site and this rally is full with a waiting list. The C. and C.C. are also holding a rally in the same area but I do not know the booking status of this one. ROON
Mel, you are so right. We ended up driving down there and back in the same day as refused to pay that fee and all sites close by were completely full. refuse to pay for entertainment not wanted. But is it just me that feels there seems to have been quite an increase all round when you phone to book anywhere now .... I know prices do go up but I am struggling to find bargains as they seem to be taken before I can get to the phone. Someone said it might be because there are over 40,000 new caravanners/motorhomers this year due to credit crunch. Don't know if that's true.
