benandbarbara
Does anyone know where we can get hold of an aid to lifting bikes onto our Fiamma Bike rack on the back of our motorhome. we currently have two bikes but we are looking to buy two electric bikes, each weighing about 24kg, and this will be a bit heavy for us! Any ideas would be welcome. B&B ;-)
Keithl
Hi B & B, have a look on the Fiamma website LINK for the 'Lift 77'. They say it can carry up to 60kg so may do the job. Keith.
mel wood
Check the weight that your carrier and mountings can take. Also check whether the extra weight of electric bikes will affect your payload. When we carried an electric bike on a bike rack (VW T4) we removed the bike's battery and carried that inside the van, thus lowering the weight we had to lift onto the bike rack. The electric bike was a super idea .....until it malfunctioned. Getting it repaired was impossible abroad and difficult in Britain, involving carriage fees to the manufacturer of£86 plus the cost of the repair. The repair only lasted about 6 months. We only had the bike a couple of years from new.Our bike was manufactured by Powerbyke. Local cycle dealers in Wolverhampton stopped dealing with powerbyke because of the difficulties of repairs.
