Guest Tracker
I don't know about now but certainly a year or two ago you could park up for free overnight towards the Eastern end of the beach - but only in the winter - from November to March I believe - a phone call to Exmouth town council should clarify their current attitudes. chas
Overnight parking is allowed on the private jetty near to the town centre on payment at the fish shop around the corner, there are no facilities but you do overlook the mouth of the river exe. In the morning the area becomes a payment car park again. This used to be the case up to last year, but it may have changed, worth a stop to enquire. maureend
We stayed at a CL "Pidgeons Farm", Woodbury only 4 miles out with a bus service into Exmouth. Free with over 60's pass. Also C&CC seem to hold rallies at the Rugby Club in Exmouth, which might fall in with when you want to stay. :D

Minstrel
We live in Exeter and frequently visit Exmouth. There are always several motorhomes parked at the Orcombe point end of the seafront, with lovely views across towards Dawlish, Teignmouth etc. I'm pretty sure that it's Ok to park overnight there, obviously parking fees in the daytime, but only April to end October. Maps on the seafront show where there are freshwater taps. Toilets are open 8 till 6 winter time and later in the summer. We often think it's a shame we live so close! There's good walking over the cliffs to Sandy bay and Budleigh Salterton, also level on the seafront to the harbour, with a cycle track along there also which goes as far as the village of Lympstone, very pretty. Minstrel
Further to my last posting, we spent the day at Exmouth on Monday. I can confirm that overnight parking is allowed with a maximum stay of 24 hours.
Rayjsj
How refreshing to hear about a local 'Seaside' council that actually wants to encourage Tourism and includes 'Us motorhomers' in that description (Tourists, that is ) a lot just seem to want us to 'go somewhere else !!anywhere but here!' and some get quite nasty about it too, with hefty fines for the unwary. If the French can do it why can't we ?? (are you listening West Bexington Council ? Swanage Council ?). Every one keeps telling us what a financial mess the Country is in. How about being a bit more welcoming, Like Exmouth. :D :D PS i'm not talking about 'carte blanche' if someone tries to 'take advantage' by overstaying their time, Fine them ! Just a bit more 'Laid back' and welcoming, we aren't all like that, and who knows ? we might come back, spend more AND tell our friends.
davoscar
Yes we regularly spend days at the Maers Rock end - which is by Orcombe point. It is true you can stop 24 hours here and we have know people overnight - although we don't but return to Woodbury where Webbers Farm do a great deal for over 50's. Also a good tip - Buy a weekly parking permit from Exmouth TIC it costs £18 and actually lasts for eight days! Don't know why I'm telling you this because it is our favourite spot and we have to fight for a place already in the busy times! Shhh don't tell too many.......
