mondo Posted April 20, 2009 Share Posted April 20, 2009 We did the Ile de Oleron last year..we stayed at Domaine de Oleron site for around 18 days ..very enjoyable..site was reasonable facilities were OK onr large ablutions block..good hot showers..no seats on the WCs.. pan and crockery wash,etc ...there was a bit of a kids club thing for the sixes to sixteens and certain little bits of entertainment ther was a disco for the older kids !!nice bit'o'drum and bass trance and dance but at around 1130/1200pm done and finished but that was only once whilst we were there(AUGUST) Nearby good cycle routes,on old byroads no cars!! a decent little supermarket in St Pierre bit like an old CO_OP but a HUGE!!!! Leclerc about 10 mins drive away. That was our first taste of France last year we enjoyed it the site is in the Alan Rogers guide the site is run by a Dutch lady who speaks immaculate English it's worth a look Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Homenaway Posted April 23, 2009 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Hi, We stayed at a large aire (formerly a campsite?) about one mile inland from St Denis d'Oleron sea front with old amenities block and some electricity hook ups. Level grass some shade, some areas soft and muddy. We paid 8€ a night June-Aug in 2007 It is signposted from the main road. It is more llike a CL than an aire.
