MotoHomer
Recently the blade valve on our cassette stuck partly open - I could neither open it further nor close it using the loo lever. Fortunately the yellow knob on top of the cassette was still aligned to permit cassette removal and, with the unit on the ground, I decided I would have to risk damage, and applied some (moderate) force to the knob. This succeeded in freeing the linkage within the cassette which, with some initial resistance, returned to normal. No problems since. Question is, was this a "one-off"? I suspect not, and if it recurs we might not be so fortunate next time. On the other hand, I don't want to start groping around in the cassette unnecessarily - and at the moment I don't know quite what I would be groping around for. I presume spares or a service kit will be available and will be pursuing this, but fitting could be challenging. Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone have a prognosis please? little-jack
D Have you used Thetford blade lubricant on the unit recently? If not,I suggest you give it a try, if used regularly it seems to keep the blade running freely. little jack

BrianR
I suggest you go to the Thetford website - http://www.thetford-europe.com/ where you will find a wealth of useful information, including exploded diagrams for each model and step by step illustrated instructions on the various more common repairs. You will probably need to replace the blade valve seal, which is a very easy task.
