Stuart
I am not clear what the figure represents that you are quoting at "3000lbs fror your age" The figures are normally given in Kg. The maximum TOTAL legal weight of the trailer can be worked out from the loading plate on the van. The highest figure will be the maximum permitted total loaded weight of the van and trailer, usually the last line on the plate. If you deduct from this, the maximum for the van, it will give you the maximum trailer weight. Remember the trailer will add weight to your back axle. It would be wise to have your 'van weighed so you know the weights on each axle, front, rear and trailer. I am sure somebody can give you a simpler explanation in due course.
