Guest peter
Can anyone tell me if the X250 has deadlocking. According to the Fiat Manual, it does. If it does, how do you activate it? and how do do test if it's working?.
Rocles
Yes it does. Two quick presses of the Lock switch instead of the normal one on the keyfob enable it...you can actually hear the clunk when it locks.
Guest CAB
But be aware that should you deadlock whilst inside the 'van I believe you will have to use the remote to unlock before you can open the doors (they can be opened from inside with a "normal" lock). Might be a problem in an emergency. I "deadlock" when leaving the 'van (it also activates the alarm), but not whilst inside. Clive
colinfrier
I think the deadlock is an option no deadlock on mine
lennyhb
Mine doesn't have deadlocks I think it's like Fords it depends where the Motorhome converter is based. British build vans will have deadlocks as do vans supplied to the UK market. German built conversions won't e.g. Hymer, Burnster etc.
Guest peter
Thanks for the replies guys. As mine's a Burstner it won't have them then. Wondered why I couldn't here it clicking when I pressed the fob twice quickly. :-(
Rainbow-Chasers
probably best! If you lose your keys and your van is deadlocked, you are talking major damage to get back in! All the break in gear in the world is pretty useless, especially with electric windows. In this situation it is break a window time and climb through, then it has to be dragged onto a low loader and taken to a specialist locksmith to drill the locks out and fit new! Without the deadlock on, most recovery techs will get into the van in under 8 seconds.
mirage
Umm, confused with last post I thought the idea was to stop the thief getting in, in eight seconds.
Earthmover
Rainbow-chaser, Your method is a bit drastic and expensive!!, A far easier way is to (A) connect a 12volt battery to the terminals on the reverse light switch underneath the van. This will put the ignition lights on. (B) remove a front wheel. © Get a block of wood and place it by a crash sensor in the wheel arch, give it a almighty thump with a lump hammer and bingo your dead locking will deactivate!! and you can open the doors. The AA or the RAC crews carry the kit to do it. They may have to ring base and check how/which terminals to wire the the reverse light switch/battery and the approx position of the crash sensors. Any comments Euroserve please. Em.
Rainbow-Chasers
By all means you can get in that way - problem is, with all the rules and regs now we are not actually allowed to do it! lol! The impact sensors were the old favourite, in fact the old volvos were great as you just kicked the bumper! Unfortunately with these sensors being linked on the same main as the airbags on most vehicles, there is a risk of hitting too hard and setting off the airbag - do that the vehicle is an immeadiate write off - hence we are not permitted to touch them in favour of blowing out a window! Even with a motorcycle broken down, if it involves removing a side panel, we are not permitted to touch it! It has to be towed - stupid i grant you, but the fear with the recovery clubs is, that todays electronics are so sensitive that it can cause more problems! It is the crazy world we live in! The easier method is earthing the white cable on the brake light - won't say which for security! lol! My favourite was a Ford Fusion - i called Ford (it had just been released at the time) and they said ' You will never get into it if it's deadlocked' The pleasure calling them and telling them it was done was good! lol!
