Mr. Grumpy
Eric, I don't know how old you are but I suggest you also check out the driving regulations concerning fitness to drive vehicles over 3500 kilos.
david lloyd
eric hobson - 2009-05-03 12:00 PM having recently purchased a tag-axle motorhome(5tonne gross), Iwould like to know if different speed limits apply, both solo and towing. Any info would be appreciated. *-) Hi Eric and welcome to the forum. I'm not sure if you intend going abroad with the motorhome but an article in the recent (May 2009) issue of the Caravan Club magazine may also be relevent. This is what the article says: "The speed limit in France is dependent on the maximum weight of your outfit. If your car/caravan or motor caravan weighs under 3.5 tonnes the following speed limits apply: motorways - 130 kph; priority road/dual carraigeways - 90-110 kph. If your outfit weighs more than 3.5 tonnes the following limits come into force: motorways - 90 kph; priority/dual carraigeways 80 kph. Special speed limits can apply so please be vigilant - and if a road sign indicates a lower speed limit, drop your speed accordingly." Obviously quite a big difference for you over there.
