Brian Kirby
Clay, you need to give us a clue! I Assume you are thinking of fitting a large Heki (they come in at least three sizes) in lieu of a smaller rooflight? If so, I would say only consider enlarging the opening in the roof if you know how the roof is constructed, and where the main "joists" are. I would suggest contacting (presumably) Swift, and asking if they have a layout plan for the roof structure for your model and year of Kontiki, otherwise you risk something going crack, or worse, next time you get onto the roof! If you entrust the work to a specialist, do make sure he is a proper specialist who knows how the roof has been put together - or you risk much the same result at greater cost!! Ranger
Too big a job, you need to build in a frame to take the new vent in conjunction with the joists already there, or as Brian says, something could go crack or even crash. If you need more air why not just fit a 'two way 12V fan' ??? much safer and easier. Then you will not have all that sun shining in and fading your upholstery. clay
thanks for the advice both, i must admit that because the roof was so strong and rigid i just foolishly took it that it was solid and i did not even consider joists, should have known better. :$ on the face of it then i think i will leave well alone unless i stumble across a swift expert who could do the job for me. again thanks for advice

Ranger
Hi Clay, give the Caravan Hospital a ring just outside Cowbridge, 01446774747, I have been told they are very good, I always use Carafit, at Crosshands who are very good, but only because they are closest to me. SAS
I had 3 of my standard roof vents fitted with mini heikis and had it done at Auto-sleepers workshop. They did a good job once they remembered they needed rubbers. Was driving home and to combat the whistling coming from the one in the luton I pulled the blind over like I used to do on the old ones and it almost got sucked out. Much better all round than the old standard vents though.
