My Waeco easycool 1500 roof a/c unit does not seem to be cooling as it should......Anyone know if these units need regassing? It is just over 2 years old.

Can anyone recommend a service agent in London or the S/E of England where I can get it looked at. I think a Dometic agent will do as they have taken over Waeco

Try contacting Dometic direct.  Waeco did have their own mobile refrigeration engineers who came to you.  I assume Dometic has retained them.

Dometic now live at Blandford St Mary, just outside Blandford Forum (between Salisbury and Dorchester) so not so handy for a visit.  However, the aircon units are a bit specialised, so getting the "experts" to officiate, one way or the other, seems the best idea.

after 3 days of trying to get through to them...sucess at last!Chap says it is a sealed system so should still be OK. Said to put a digital thermometer up to it and it should read between 10-15 deg C. If not find a local mobile car a/c service agent to regas. The chap seemed confident that they are reliable....I will run it for a while again and see :-|

The Waeco Easycool 1500 is known for cracking pipes (caused by vibration from the vehicle in motion), if this is what has happened to yours it will need to be repaired (at significant cost) before it can be regassed.

Great.........Thanks Dave!

will cycle out tomorrow and get a digital thermometer....but if pipes cracked there would be no cooling at all I guess. If I take the cover of would the damage be obvious?

Got a thermometer from superdrug today and obviously the wrong type being a medical one *-) any suggestions?

But the good news is I ran the a/c for a good few hours and it is working, maybe not as good as I remember it from last year.....But my son thinks there is nufink wrong with it..........

It is 30 deg C in London today, after Goa at Easter it feels decidedly autumnal in comparison :-D

Finally got a room style thermometer from Ebay for 7.50 (inc postage) while a bit slow it seems to work OK. Tried it in the house + fridge and freezer so it seems accurate enough...

In the van temp eventually went down to 6 deg C at the a/c outlet, so I think I was worrying about nothing :-S

Hi Judge,

I have the same and it is a little slow to get the van cool, but works fine and 4 years old.

DO you ever use yours whilst travelling?

I do but it put's to much drain on the batteries for anything more than an hour. I assume this is because that the wattage required is more than is being put in by the alternator.?

I don't think there was anything wrong with the a/c ii was just me! expecting to much from it, to quickly, on probably the hottest days of the year *-)

The Ford cab air is very good so don't really need it on the road....

the dealer said the standard alternator would cope, but if a bigger unit a new alternator would be necesasary.......I'm not to sure as when on idle it seems to struggle and alarm sounds occasionally. then its fine when you speed up and cruise. I will buy a 230v only next time and save the weight and expense of the 2000 watt inverter.
