We are planning to visit the Koblenz area of Germany at the end of August we have been told this is a really nice part of Germany to visit.

Has anyone a route you would recommend using Aires / Stellplatze en route preferably via Luxemburg at a leisurely pace not using Peage Motorways, we have had numerous visits to France with the motorhome which have been fantastic and now feel we would like to have a change of scenery having never taken a tour of Germany before. many thanks kelly

We travelled up to the Mosel from Mulhouse stopping at Gerademer in Luxembourg to Cochem. There where numerous campsites and stellplatz in every village we went through. We landed up in campsite at Cochem stayed there for 5 days. It was on opposite bank to Cochem within walking distance. We could not get on stellplatz as they where full as there was a wine festival taking place at Cochem. We then went back up into Luxembourg to Diekirch . then onto Ypre where there is a campsite within the city just 10 min walk to the Menin gate…If you are planning to go down valley from Koblenz it would be worth a visit into Luxembourg as they have the cheapest petrol and diesel in Europe

From Calais we made for a Aire beside a campsite at Aquet from there we filled up our deisel Luxemburgh from there we took the N2 down to Remich we stayed beside the Mosel on a Stal with no fac; for one night the next stop was at Minheim it is a good site with elect; we stayedfor 4 nts there is many places we could have stopped before then you dont have to worry there are lots along the Mosel, the next stop was at Urzig with elc water etc you pay at the garage over the road 8Eur I think it was then we had 3 nts at Ellenz Poltersdorf behind a vineyard there is also a good stal at Ernst beside a restraunt (which we missed) we were on the wrong side we had crossed the bridge to go to a camp site at Burgan there is sites around Cochem as already been said but we went straight through we had hit a holiday and everywhere was very busy so from E.P. we didnt stop again untill the Rhyne.Oh and if you were to stay say at Burgan ! you can get a bus into KOblenz.

So depending on how long youve got I would just meander! if you do go along the Rhyne from Koblenz you will find a Stal or campsite at Bacharach which is a nice town to walk into and another stal Id recommend at Bad Sobenheim it is in a lovely grass field with elect beside a cafe if you can get hold of a Best Stals Book I know we picked a 2009 up from the site at Minheim. We gave our 2008 to a couple we met in Stenay France they gave us information about Ypres which we went to from there.

Have a lovely time it is easy to travell off motorways but to make up time we did travel on some. You will love the Mosel they do cater for us over there and are very friendly we found.
