paultelfer
Whilst we were in France recently a heavy book fell out of the overhead locker onto the table and knocked a hole through the formica top. As new tables are very expensive has anyone any ideas about fixing it or replacing it with another kind of table. It is the one which hooks onto a bar under the window and has a single fold down leg. :'(
Guest Tracker
Welcome to the asylum Paul! Buy a picnic or camping table, remove the legs etc and transfer the Bessie table leg(s) and fixing gubbins to it. Buy a picnic or camping table and use it in place as a free standing table. That way you can use it outside too. Buy a sheet of Formica and stick it over the entire table with Evo Stick and enjoy getting high on the fumes! Bung some filler in it rub it down and repaint to match if possible. Swift's spares delivery and prices are atrocious so don't pin your hopes on them if all else fails and you are in a hurry! PJay
Have a look at the "worktop Cracked theme )below Same situation, can be repaired if you have all the bits!
njw
i have managed to fix my worktop as described in cracked worktop posting but you could get a new top for just over £50 from o,learys in yorkshire, if you do not want to repair it
Fred Duck
I'd certainly try O'Learys. If you've never visited, you can't have any idea of the size and range of their stock. It is, frankly, unbelievable and all in a glorious jumble such that only they know where everything is. FD
Mel B
Here you go - have a 'rummage' on their website but bear in mind that this is just a fraction of the stuff they actually have so it's certainly worth a phone call if you can't find what you want here: http://www.olearymotorhomes.co.uk/ Oh, they're very nice people too!!! You could also get a similar type of table top from Ikea or the like, either buying a complete table and just using the top, or getting some of the separate tops they seem to offer sometimes, much cheaper than 'genuine' motorhome ones. flicka
Hi Paul, You don't give your location, but alternatives to O'Leary's (Beverley, Yorks). are Magnum Motorhomes, (Grimsby), Autocraft, (Chesterfield) Wyvern Leisure (Shepton Mallet), CAK (Kenilworth) or Charles & Sons, (Poole) I think you will find all will be able to offer something from stock much less than Swift direct & without the wait. flicka
Hi Pauline, Charles & Sons, Unit 21, New Town Business Park, Poole, Dorset, BH12 3LL. Tel:- 01202 733772, web:- www.charlesandson.co.uk I have not had any dealings with them, but the advertise in MMM every month. Quote "1000's of parts in stock, for Autohomes, Compass, Elddis, Herald, Swift & Holdsworth" Swift are the manufacturer of your Bessacarr. The Table fixing you mention, is a commonly used method and it is mainly down to matching the Table Top design. Good luck.
