Mad Cow
We are considering escaping the family this year and taking off say from Christmas Eve (Thursday) lunchtime until Sun morning - we have to be back for granddaughters birthday. Does anyone have any good ideas where to go that is not too far 2-3 (hours) from Hertford? We really like good food and although not worried about cooking in the van would like to perhaps find somewhere to have dinner on Christmas Day as well. Anywhere with nice walks/views would be good too. Does anyone have any brill ideas? Mad Cow
PJay
hope you find somewere. You will need to book the christmas dinner ,ASAP as most places get booked up early, It,s usually warm down here in the south,(at least 2 deg warmer than Herts, I know we used to live there) but don't know of any sites myself pauline
J9withdogs
Have you looked at Caravan Club/Camping & Caravanning Club rallies? There seem to be quite a few in the club magazines.
Knaus
Hi Just back from South Lytchett Minster site just north of Poole, Dorset. They are extending their opening until 2nd January. There is a nice pub/restaurant called Peter's Finger 15 minutes walk from the gates. Buses stop outside and can take you to Poole, Bournemouth or Swanage. Heated shower blocks etc. Two walks with directions. Have a look on their web site. Just enter South Lytchett Minster and you will find it. Rapido-lass
We've spent Christmas at the CC site at Tredegar House, Newport in the past. I don't know what restaurants are open - perhaps google or phone the site? You are in the grounds so a nice stroll around the lake is appealing to walk off the extra portion of xmas pud!! Mad Cow
Thank you to all who have given me some ideas. I think I have quite a bit of homework to do! Perhaps I ought to be thinking about Xmas next year now. Mad Cow x
