Sunnysue Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 We have just replaced the cab battery in our used motorhome( it lasted 9 years!!). Since then no voltage is coming through to living area ie electric step not working , fridge won't turn on and led for battery 1 (cab) not lighting on control panel. We assume when placing new battery mechanic missed a connection , is this right? what does connect battery to electrics in living area. We are new to this so bit green behind the ears. Any advice would be very welcomed. Leisure battery working fine. Thanks
lennyhb Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I think your assumption is spot on, there was probably a second cable connected to the battery positive that has not been reconnected. You will probably also find your leisure battery is not charging with the engine running. You may find instead of one cable there are 2 or 3 that should be connected, older Motorhomes often had the fridge, battery charging, step etc. fed separately back to the battery, newer vans it all tends to be controlled via the habitation charger. Have a look around the battery and see if there is a cable or two floating around it will a lot small than the main battery cable.
alan Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Had a similar problem a couple of years ago - our step and fridge decided not to work. Big Dave Newall spotted it straight away! On our camper, we have a separate fuse floating around the engine compartment, nowhere near the rest of the fuses, which controls the step and fridge! If you haven't found any leads floating around that have been disconnected, I would check to see if you have a separate fuse. Good luck! Alan
