Bought it in a little electrical shop in Kendal. Used to use it in the caravan, not tried it in the motorhome yet but if you left it on it should take the chill off nicely, it does have a thermostat and a 1 to 5 setting, very quiet. AliB
Thermal Underwear. Full longjohns and long sleeve vest. The modern versions are very light, you hardly know you've got them on and you don't end up looking like Lee Marvin in Paint Your Wagon. if you are still cold add a hot water bottle. A good quality sleeping back and a hoidioter bottle will keep anyone warm. If you prefer to use a duvet then make sure you have adequate insulation under the body. A mattress and sheet is not good enough, you should be lying on top of a couple of blankets. With the right attire you should not need additional heating. Well maybe when over 80 years old a small heater could be considered re libby's post.
breakaleg
We have three king size quilts, in warm weather we lye on two of them and sleep under one, in cold weather, we lye on one and sleep under two. Works for me Pete

Plugged it in and it works perfectly once again so it is now headed for the garage in the motorhome ready for the cold. I must agree with AliB that there is a need for something between the bottom sheet and the mattress. Although under our fixed bed there is no access from outside, on a cold night last week you could feel the cold striking through. Maybe one of those Lambswool/fluffy mattress covers would work. lennyhb
Alf I must agree with AliB that there is a need for something between the bottom sheet and the mattress. Although under our fixed bed there is no access from outside, on a cold night last week you could feel the cold striking through. Maybe one of those Lambswool/fluffy mattress covers would work. Our fixed bed was a bit cold on the wall side, the heater outlet in the locker for under bed warming is on the inside wall of the locker so always obstructed by the locker contents, and the small heating pipes with outlets along the side of the bed don't produce that much heat as the system is geared up so that the bedroom area stays cooler than the lounge. I fitted another heater outlet under the bed that blows along the outside wall across the locker external hatch, cures the problem & got rid of condensation on the aluminium locker door frame. davenewellhome
Finished installing the Propex heater this afternoon, off to Mid Wales this weekend so we'll give it a proper test then but in the workshop this afternoon it raised the temp in the 'van from 14 to 17 in 20 minutes so it looks good. Dave G
We bought a couple of these summer weight ones : http://www.raskelf.com/duvalay.htm Extremely warm and very cosy, my wife who feels the cold (even in the summer) thinks they are brilliant. But I do have to get out first in the morning and put the heating on.
tonyishuk
Just to add that I am not a great fan of electric oil heaters after what happened to my son. http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/2451446/Familys-lucky-escape Luckily the family were up and about when it happened, a couple of hours later they would have been tucked up in bed and asleep. If you have not got one, a Fire alarm even in a m/home is a good idea. Parnoid ? YES. Rgds
