Guest JudgeMental Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 But I dont find this funny one little bit. It was sent to me initialled "hilarious video" I dont think I would be able to control myself if I got hold of the pair of them *-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On1drhgxGWU
handyman Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 its not funny..........but what I do find funny is that people would be so stupid that they would stand next to a big puddle on a main road. :-S They may well have got soaked anyway if 2 lorrys passed each other for example
GJH Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I don't think they were stupid for standing at a bus stop. For one thing they are children, so might not have realised the potential consequences as adults would. Secondly, we are all entitled to think that drivers would show more sense - especially as soaking people in this way has been classed as careless driving for several years. I hope the driver gets what's coming to him. Graham
Basil Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 GJH, driver was a female not a male and her defence is that the kids called out as she drove past the other way and asked her to do it!!! So there are always two sides to a story, imature of the driver at best. That may sound far fetched and I don't know the truth of this one, but I do know that when my (25year old now) son was about 14 and more stupid than he has become, he and several of his mates did the same thing purposely running from behind bushes to the curb as cars came down the road. Don't ask me but they thought it was a laugh at the time however some of the other parents were livid that it had happened and without being told the truth by their offspring wanted to call in the police thinking it was the drivers fault. One thing though you don't know the speed limit but I would be suspicious that the driver was speeding as looking at the impression of speed from the clip that was fast for that piece of road! Open mind. Bas PS If you slow or pause the clip they appear to see it is coming and are not exactly trying to move back or scattering, one is a considerable way before the stop like they had decided not get soaked.
Guest JudgeMental Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Basil, do you think they wanted a day of school? *-)
avongas Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I understand from todays paper that D & C Police are considering charging her with careless driving. They say there was a possibility of her losing control.
AliB Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I don't find it amusing. Similar cases were discussed on Radio 4 yesterday evening. Police have prosecuted on a number of occasional. One driver had their car confiscated!

Thanks Bas, didn't realise it was a female driving. As you say, certainly immature as she should have known better. Reminds me of the teacher who, when faced with a child's excuse of "he told me to do it", asked whether the child would have jumped into a lake if told to. Still think she should be charged :-) Graham
Basil Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 JudgeMental - 2009-10-15 1:52 PM Basil, do you think they wanted a day of school? *-) Ho hum! Not sure if you meant the ones in the clip, but if you meant my son and his mates, it was during the October half term so they were on holiday. Just young and daft, not that I am saying these ones in the clip were! Just keeping an open mind as I don't know the facts of the case, but I am aware of the things that kids do 'for a laugh'. Still think it was pretty daft of the driver though. Bas
catinou Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Saw it in the paper yesterday - apparently the person filming it was her boyfriend.... *-) This is so NOT funny. 8o|
maggyd Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 No its not funny :-S and only an ignorant pig would do such a thing! its the same people that think its funny to charge through floods on roads and think that people that crawl through are chicken >:-) I always hope to find those people broken down up the road having got water in there engine.
nightrider Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Having seen the film clip, definetely a case for prosecution.
J9withdogs Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I really, really wish I hadn't seen that clip - it led me onto watching other youtube clips and found the most heartbreaking video ever. Much too upsetting to even post on here.
Rapido-lass Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I know that there are always 2 sides to a story, but come on guys, if she (the driver) is older enough to drive then she is old enough to know that she is meant to be the responsible adult regardless if the children asked her to do it,if that was the case. Would she have done this if she had been on her own and the passenger wasn't able to film it? or is this someone trying to get 5 mins of fame on youtube? Personally I think that the driver should be prosecuted as this was a premeditated action of careless driving, not an unavoidable incident. I also think the passenger taking the film should be done for aiding and abetting the driver. The only good thing that came out of this is that she didn't loose control and no-one was injured or worse. Come on guys these kind of drivers are the ones that we all are trying to avoid on the roads, lets not encourage them.
Hopesy Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Apparently she handed her self in to a police station, has been interviewed and reported to the CPS for consideration of prosecution.
Mel B Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 What would be the outcome if someone else had joined the queue at the bus stop? Someone with a baby or todler, older person ... not to mention of one of the kids had stepped off the pavement. She was driving way too fast and way too close to the kerb intentionally, one slight misjudge move and it could easily have had serious consequences. I hope she does get prosecuted and the idiot who was egging her on too.
