We're on our way to Skegness

At last, we've exchanged contracts today and move into our bungalow on 27 Oct'. I thought we would never make it, as the original bottom of chain buyer dropped out and a stroke of luck as they found another after a week.

I can't wait to get there and have already given my notice at work. Never to work for an employer ever again, no way! If I need a bit of extra cash I have many skills to call on working for myself, including car mechanics and spraying/ body repairs. Fortunately the new house has a 36Ft long double garage, Yippee, all that lovely space to fill with bits of car and boat.

The wife has other ideas though, I've spent the last ten years doing up our present home and now she wants me to do it all over again, Grrrr. Still it will give me something to get up in the morning for, won't it.

I've lived in our present home for 24 Yrs and to be honest I've had enough of it, same old scenery every day. Same old non comunicative and grumpy neighbours, Ughhh. What is it about Northamptonshire people, so self centred and insular. Lincolnshire folk on the other hand are much more friendly. I already know 2 of my new neighbours and that's just fromm looking round our new house. How refreshing is that? I find northerners much more cheerful than where I'm currently living.

A new chapter is about to start, Hooray

At last we're seeing the back of you and we can revert to being our normal cheerfull selves :D

Sorry, I don't live in Bedfordshire, but I have done, both Sandy and Bedford. My wife works there in Bedford. It's a lot better than where I currently live.

Slightly confused till I noticed your edit as I was typing my post, I believe the first 'draft' was "northamtonshire and bedfordshire" ;-)

I hate you with a passion Peter! >:-)

Only kidding! I hope it all goes smoothly ... don't forget to invite us all to the housewarming party! :->

Looks like you'll be able to play in your new garage and, if you decide to set up a little business, you could look into doing motorhome body repairs ... I know where you'd be able to 'advertise' your skills! :D ;-)

Oooo ... thinking of the housewarming party ... here's a website to get a good look at it ... gonna give us a tour of the garden before we arrive?

The chance to drink you out of house and home .... well tea and biscuits in your bungalow at least! :D Got any Hob-nobs????? :-D

You won't be a million miles away from Carol H and Charles who are at Grantham, and we're thinking of visiting the seals at Donna Nook this year (if we can get away!) ... I still have soem chocolate Brazils in my drawer which I could bring (managed to keep them safe from Janine and Charles. :$ ).

Warmest welcomes to you and your good lady into your new dwellings.

Hope you both enjoy this new start.

By the way it's not a bad area for fly fishing area either.

Best wishes for a long and happy 'retirement' Peter.

Thanks all for your kind words. Hope we haven't made a big mistake and the North Sea comes in to engulf us. We have been lucky I suppose to sell our house in 2 weeks and find one ideal for parking the M/H and near the sea as well.

I think you've found a great area to live in, we like to to go to cl sites around Sutton-on-Sea & Chapel St Leonards,

I think what will be hardest for you is slowing down your pace of life to fit in with the locals,

they seem to appreciate what life has to offer, rather than racing around missing the important bits :-)

The location we're movng to is Wrangle. It's 7 miles out of Boston and 12 from Skegness on the main road the A52. It can't be too soon as I'm burned out from nearly 50Yrs of continuous work. If I carried on I would go totally mad working for a complete (it's not nice to insult people) of a boss.

I was a production manager until I was 52 and was made redundant. Since then I have done 2 jobs that have been well below my ability so that's frustrating, but you have to keep the cash rolling in somehow. But now I've reached the point that I want a life of my own. Just like Mel, as she will no doubt enlighten you all in due course. :D

Hi Peter

Know the place well

Many moons ago I used to attend the weekly saturday night hop in Wrangle as I lived in the nearby village of Friskney. The hop was held in a converted chicken hut.

Many a good night was had there

You might find yourself disturbed by the heavy lorries that live there in abundance and also by the RAF practicing on the bombing range nearby.

Good luck in your new home

I too used to know the area well back in the pea harvesting days, the local lads used to drive around in 'customised' mkI and mkII escorts at rather fast speeds. Minds gone a blank, what was the name of the pub we stayed at?

Your proboly right, but it's winding me up and my 'back up memory' is staying at the new house tonight :-( I vaguely recall the name 'Wrestlers Arms' but might be thinking of somewhere else

Good luck with your move and your cross-over in to FREEDOM !!

I lived in Boston until 2007 when due to work I re-located down here. Boston is only 30 mins drive from Skegness and is a lovely market town. Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe are not far away from you either with some lovely stretches of beach and sand dunes. ENJOY :D
