Big Momma Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Finished work this evening and taken Friday and Monday off, they owe me lots of hours so why not get some back eh :D Booked in at CC Site at Minehead, weather looks good for travelling tomorrow but rain Friday evening right through Saturday. Sunday looking good though. Ah well, got my Motorhome mags, My Jack Daniels and plenty of food in Fridge, lovely :D
Mel B Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Isn't that the site next to the large Minehead sports field/area? The last time we were there, a good few years ago, I ended up threatening to knock the blocks off a couple of idiots who thought it was a good idea to sit in the middle of the field and play their CDs at full volume at 3.00 am! They didn't return .... >:-)
midknight Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Hope you enjoyed and that the Bullfinch`s and tits were still feeding off the bird feeders

Mel B Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Nope, it was definitely a main site - Minehead Butlins wasn't that far away from what I can remember ... it was quite a few years ago though! :D
Big Momma Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Had a great time. I think Pete is right about the old Quarry certainly no Sports Field. We stayed on the Caravan Club site but there is also a C&CC Site and another private site in the vicinity so it may have been one of the others. The site was never empty, as soon as one Unit moved off the pitch was taken by another soon afterwards. It was good to see how many motorhomes there were, almost matching the number of caravans. Minehead itself was about a 20 minute stroll away but there was a parade of shops within 5 minutes with Supermarket, Newsagent, Chemist, Fish & Chip shop and a Chinese take away. A local van came on site every morning selling fresh Bread & Rolls, Milk & Newspapers. We got chance to try out our new Fold Up Electric Bikes (Batribike Quartz), absolutely fantastic :-D We cycled in to Minehead, to the harbour, along the Esplanade past Butlins and then out to Dunster Beach then on to Dunster Village before returning to site. We got caught in a couple of showers, one minute glorious sunshine the next dripping wet but what fun. Because of the size of our current van it has never been practical to take it off site so we have always relied upon footpower, Bicycles or local transport (Both in UK and Europe) and we have never not got to anywhere we wanted to go. The old knee joints are getting older so having electric bikes is absolutely brilliant, the fact that they can be folded down and stored in the van means that we are not going to put a bike rack on the new van.
