Guest Mel E
So Warners have created a new group of forums of which this is one stream. Having visited the new site, I have a couple of observations: 1. You will need good eyesight. 2. You don't have to be a subscriber to sign up. I'm not sure of Warner's thinking behind this, but it is likely to increase substantially the number of postings on any topic. This may be a good thing - only time will tell. Guest Basil
Yes Mel E you will need very very good eyesight. Guess we can expect an onslaught of Trolls, lurchers and hackers now!!
Guest david lloyd
Hi Mel E It probably will increase the number of postings but, if what I've seen elsewhere is anything to go by, not necessarily the quality and accuracy of the information in the postings! regards, david
Guest Geoff
I have just had a look at the new website and must say that I am very sorry that this motorhome dedicated site is to close. The new site seems to be trying to be "all things to all people" and I doubt that it will attract the same quality, technical accuracy and resposibility that has been the hallmark of this site. For some months now I have felt that the MMM magazine does not create as much interest and attention that it once did and now I feel that I will not be able to rely on the forum for interest, entertainment and reliable information.I would like to be proved wrong,no doubt time will tell. Thank you to all contributors to this site for providing so much information about so many topics. Regards to all Geoff
Guest Burstner620
First observations. I don't honestly think that there's any difference in the font sizes used now and previously (try opening both pages in seperate tabs in your browser) and (IMO) the new white background is preferable to the old yellow one. Agreed that there is a risk of there being less accuracy in answers given and the information offered because it's now an "open" forum. I'm disappointed in the fact that the site still appears to be *slow* in loading or re-loading pages but perhaps this will improve once all resources are directed at a single website. We'll really just need to wait and see how it develops.
Guest Burstner620
And that answers another question. For those who didn't use their full name previously, if you haven't registered your existing user name, watch that someone else doesn't pinch it before you get the chance. Guest Dave Newell
Font size is fine but I preferred the yellow background, easier on the eyes I felt. Let's hope it speeds up once the transition period is over 'cos it's criminally slow! D.
Guest Wills Wagon
Looks like motorhomefacts.com has a rival!
Guest Clive
I must admit I very much like the no frills aproach of this simple forum. Now, considering that the majority of motorhomers who are likely to spend loads of dosh are retired old codgers (like me) I do wonder about the prudence of replacing a simple forum with a complicated one. Finally, Where is it? I have this login page in "favourites"
Guest Dave Newell
Hi Clive, Click on the garish banner at the top of the page and it'll take you to the new site, select "Forums" from the selections at top of page then "motorhomes" and type in your registration details. Guest bill h
I've had a look at the basic first pages of the new forum and although it appears clear and concise there is one snag that bothers me. All the advertising clutter Being slightly dislexic my brain becomes addled at the sight of an array of multi coloured sales images which are obviously aimed at prospective purchasers and not genuine (perhaps) camping enthusiasts. This type of page display puts me right off so if I'm gone away then thanks for the past info. I might just hop over to France in my multi megga box on wheels after all. bill h
Guest Brian Kirby
I must say I can't see much difference in the font sizes, although a bit bigger would have been kinder! Having said that, what a squitty little message box! Why can't we get a full width one? Grey and white is fine with me instead of yellow, but I'd prefer a full screen presentation instead of all that wasted blank grey space down both sides. Or haven't I got it set up right? Guest Ian Stewart
The page is set up for a 600 x 800 resolution desktop, hence the "fill" panel each side of the page.
Guest Mel E
Actually the new site has BIGGER font size. I did what Burstner 620 suggested (opened both in separate, overlapping windows) and the new one definitely has a slightly larger font. Must be that pale blue background that makes it seem smaller! Guest Mel B
The only thing I can't seem to find is where you can put your small classified ads on line, by this I mean the 'Cash Mart' bit that you can link to from this Forum (or any of the other original website's pages) under Services. I can't seem to find it, or it's equivalent, in the new site? Does anyone know if it exists in the new site and if so where????
Guest Pat
Font size seems fine to me clearer if anything, but as with most grumpy old men I must ask why the change?? If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!! Regards Pat
Guest gootler77
A couple of quick pointers from someone in the know ;) the font size was the same but it has been increased by one size after your comments. And... The forum is currently running off the same system as the previous MMM site but will be replaced in April by one which I'm sure you will find significantly better and in particular: faster! Guest trixie
hello It would be great if we could have a larger font size or a seperate skin with a larger font size so that folk with a visual impairment would be better able to view Trixie
