snobbyafghan
I'm going to Belgium via Calais for 3 days. Actually in the car rather than the van but I'm asking the question here because there's a wealth of knowledge about such things on this board. I hope that's OK. Anyway, I'm looking for breakdown cover for just those 3 days. So far as I can see, the RAC wants me to take out cover for the whole year. Even though I'm an existing member (since 1980..!) there doesn't seem to be any short-term cover on offer there. An ideas? Doug
Guest Tracker
Have you tried the CCC or CC - I think they do short term cover? Have you tries Googling 'short term European breakdown cover' or something similar? Most car insurers offer UK breakdown cover and some offer Europe wide cover - have you asked your car insurers - and checked if they need to know you will be in Europe with the car as they might, probably not, but still might like to know? Derek Uzzell
GOOGLE-ing UK web-pages on "Breakdown cover Europe" retrieves plenty of options such as: http://www.breakdowndirect.co.uk/European_Breakdown_Cover.asp The following may also be of interest: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadside-recovery Years ago, when we used to travel occasionally to the Continent in a car, we used to arrange travel and breakdown insurance for the duration of the trip via the ferry operator. Presumably that's still a possibility?
