However, had they not been quite so quick to block your card, you might have had real problems - the low value purchase is used just to "test" the card. If it works, they go for the jackpot!Had you been abroad at the time they phoned, you might not have known your card had been blocked, and would presumably have been left without means to pay, or obtain cash. Debit cards, in my opinion, should not be used on-line, or over the phone.Did you ever find out how your card number, plus the security code, found its way to the US?
