Wiring a second battery?

The simple answer is to use the same guage cable as connected to the existing battery. A similar logic can be used for the fuse size, same rating as the existing fuse. Although if the batteries are next to each other (very short connecting cable) I don't see the need for an additional fuse.

I have used a 30 amp cable and 25 amp fuses to link my second battery to the first as there is more than enough voltage drop in the van's original wiring to the first battery without adding to it.

It should, in theory, help to even out the charge rate between the two - I think - and so what if it cost a few bob more - you only do it once!
