John.N
We're planning to escape this dismal winter for a few weeks in Feb/March and looking for advice from experienced 'hispanophiles'(?). Is the Mabella region expected to be noticably warmer/drier than Alicante? We would rather not spend the extra time travelling further south unless it's likely to be worth it. What about the comparitive attractions (scenic not clubbing) of the two areas? John
Peter Highe
Hi Yes it will be warmer and sunnier. But it will in Almeria too and you won't have the pain of the Costa Del Sol. The sites in the Cabo de Gata national park are significantly more scenic with some good walking. Peter

John We are in Torre del Mar at the moment (till Sunday when we head west) and from previous years in this area I am sure being this close to Africa means that on average it stays acceptably mild. Check out www.weather.com for average temperatures for different places.
RonB
The average temperature for Alicante over that period is less than one degree less than that of Marbella - and has less than half the rainfall. In addition the campsites on the Costa del Sol range from quite poor to plain awful. From years of experience, living and camping, I would say that you would be far better of in the Murcia/Valencia regions.

John.N
Thanks for the local information. There does not seem to be a great difference between Marbella and Alicante so I think that we shall stick to the Alicante/Valencia region, probably trying out coastal and inland mountain sites.
