Guest colin
If you are thinking of lewis to south uist in 1 week thats a big area. See calmac (caledonion macbride) for ferries. 10 years ago we went from skye to tarbet, stayed on site at seilboost with only a tap that overlooked taransay, great views, also site near dalbeg ok, ferry from tarbet to lochmaddy worked way down to logboisdale and back to oban. Note on protestant isles everything closed on sunday's, benbecula being catholic all open on sunday's
Guest docted
Oorgiz Quickest, easiest and cheapest is to drive to Uig on Skye, the ferry departs from here. UISTS The best places to stop on the Uists are the ferry terminals so long as you keep out of the immediate ferry traffic lanes you will have no problems. Toilets and fresh water are available on the terminals. There is one site on Benebecula which is in the middle of the Uists. The place for food shopping is the Co-op of which there are several throughout the UIsts. Need to dash now. More later. Docted
docted
Oorgiz Lewis and Harris There is an article in April Edition of MMM which gives some additional information about the Outer Hebrides. In addition to the sites mentioned there is ample opportunity for wild camping. Shopping in Stornoway you have a choice of supermarkets the Co-op again and what used to be Safeways, in adddition to a full range of other shops. To cover both the Uists and Harris & Lewis on one trip you can purchase a Island Hopscotch ticket for a motorhome up to 8 metres in length, driver and passenger this will cost £279. This is a ferry from UIg on Skye to either Tarbet or Lochmaddy, a ferry between Harris and Berneray and the return journey to Uig. Good luck If you want to discuss further email to eddioe.roney@ntlworld.com Docted
