Mickt
Anybody know an insurance company that will cover you when you are abroad, that is if you break an arm etc unable to drive and they will get your MH back home, sending out driver or transporting unit. enodreven
Hi, Nearly all of the European breakdown policies provide the level of cover you are enquiring about, including ADAC Albeit some will/may expect your partner to drive the vehicle home if you have included them on your policy, that's if they are found to be actually with you at the time ? enodreven
Hi, Mickt Are you trying to find a actual vehicle insurance to cover this, only i was always given to understand that the sort of cover you are looking for would only come from a Breakdown recovery type insurance. If my information is correct then only a few companies offer full European Breakdown cover included with the vehicle insurance, quiet often it needs to be purchased separately from the likes of the AA, RAC, Green Flag, Eurostop Assistance, CC, C&CC and ADAC etc. Its also worth noting that some of the above companies have restrictions for vehicles over 3500kg, so its worth double checking. Hope that helps Mickt - 2009-12-10 10:47 PM Just tried Sureterm , they will not cover this.
Andy_C
Saga include: "Cover for any person with a full driving licence to drive your motorhome in a medical emergency" in their standard policy, and "if there is an accidental injury, sudden illness or death within the geographical limits which means that there is no insured person with the insured vehicle" will "pay for a qualified person to drive the insured vehicle and up to six insured persons back to your home" in their breakdown cover. Brian Kirby
Have a ring round the insurers who advertise motorhome insurance in MMM. Many will add the cover you seek for a quite small additional charge. If your partner doesn't want to drive the motorhome, don't include (presumably) her on the insurance as a named driver. This may increase the overall premium slightly, but it should ensure a relief driver is sent with minimal debate. We insure through Comfort (AVIVA underwrite the policy), and have breakdown and repatriation included for an additional premium, no restrictions on size, weight or age (of vehicle :-)).
