gordonaldson
Just a we ditty before the new year and something that others should check on. In Jan 2010 Car Mechanics (on sale now) they sum up an answer to a 2001 Fiat 2.8jtd, 35,000mls with a hesitancy/surging problem on light throttle openings in any gear, predominately 4th gear on open road, hot or cold. No warning lights, no error codes. 2 internet forums suggested fuel injectors. Was this one, did I miss it ? The Motorhome was tested with a Fiat Tech on board, all wired up. No errors came up. Now as car Mechs said, (Throttle Position Sensor rung a bell here in my head), these symptoms would indicate an Electronic throttle pedal sensor. Tested and tested to no avail. One other fault could be valve and injector timings as faults on this wouldn't log up. Surely not as Fiat had spent a considerable time on it. Yes you got it, cam belt was that loose it was like the timings were one tooth out. Belt was replaced previous year too. Mmmm where ? Engine now sounds different, more power, less hesitancy/surging. Guy says its still not as it should be though !!!! Is your cambelt LOOSE ?? Anyone out there looking to fry their brains, well Car Mechanics from this issue is doing a Diagnostics Demystified series covering fault code readers and other diagnostic tools. Part one Jan 2010.
